Majesty Fan Posted September 24, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2005 I have been on numerous RCI cruises 19 in fact but I have heard great things about DCL and they are a much closer drive for us and was wondering those adults who have done both which they liked better trying to decide for next years cruise. Iamthesea Posted September 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2005 Hi Lexi! If you have not cruised with Disney, then you must give them a try. It is a different type of cruise for sure, but lots of fun! We thought the service is top notch and loved the pool areas. There is no casino, but plenty of night life. The shows are really spectacular. Since you have cruised with RCCL so many times, it's time to give another cruiseline a try. ;)
greatdanemom Posted September 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2005 We did Disney with our 10 year old and thought it was just wonderful. The ship was beautiful, cabin was roomy, food was great, and service was top notch. However, there were over 800 children on board. As long as you don't mind kiddos you'll enjoy Disney. There are adult areas on the pool but the children are throughout the dining room, hallways, etc. My husband and I just cruised Grandeur the first week of September and there were almost no children on board. It made a huge difference for him and he enjoyed the RCCL cruise far more because of it. I guess some people relax more without the presence of children. You'll just have to decide which category you are in! :) Cheryl
rsinj Posted September 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2005 We've done Disney and RCL. We did DCL when our daughter was 3 1/2 and then again when she was 6. Though she enjoyed Disney, I think we were all able to have a fabulous time with RCL. Disney was ok for a few days (I liked the first 4 day cruise), but, much longer than that was too much for me (the 7 day was too long). However, we really didn't find any more children on our spring DCL cruise as we did on our summer Mariner cruise. However, when we cruised DCL in September, there were very few children...almost no teens.
42trvl Posted September 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2005 We've done both, and ironically enough, I will only try DCL again without our kids or when they are much older. They actually enjoyed RCI more anyway, and it seemed that Disney would be very nice for an adult couple who had no kids with them. There were many adult only features of a Disney cruise that are tough to enjoy if you go with the family, but could be better than on a large ship like the Mariner where there is little separation from all the kids whether you have your own or not.
