Misskitty72 Posted August 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2015 Sorry. I'm sure this has been asked a million times before and I did do a search, but it just left me more confused. Do you enter some kind of alternate reality when you board a cruise ship? Just kidding!! Basically all I need to know is: --Why wouldn't a captain adjust to a time zone change? --I'm going on a cruise along the coast of Mexico. All ports are in the same time zone. So there's no reason ship time would change, right? Thanks! Susan
Sauer-kraut Posted August 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2015 On NCL the ship always changes to Local Port Time. Makes it easier to figure out when you need to be aboard and what time to reserve your private shore excursions. Seems to me the Mexican Riviera would all be on the same time zone. triptolemus Posted August 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2015 There is a time zone change from LA into Mexico. GMT -8 in LA to GMT -7 in Mexico -- all three ports.
cb at sea Posted August 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2015 You stay on whatever time the ship's clocks say it is....no confusion...that's ALL that matters to you. If you want to book a ship's excursion, it will be on SHIP'S TIME. IF you want to book a private excursion, you MUST GO BY SHIP'S TIME. If you're going out on your own, set your WATCH (not your cell phone!) to SHIP'S TIME. No confusion...ship time is YOUR time!
Misskitty72 Posted August 30, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted August 30, 2015 Thanks! Good tip about the watch! I keep telling my DH that we can't rely on cell phones on the cruise, but he doesn't believe me!! Needless to say, I can't wait until we're on the cruise and his beloved cell phone reads the wrong time. Gloating is fun. :)

I had no idea. I just assumed it was on PST. THANKS!
