tempus137 Posted September 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2015 Since the Pride of America is mostly in port or probably a few miles from shore at night, how good is the cell phone coverage? Are you within your carrier's are (specifically Verizon) or are you going to get hit with the At Sea roaming? I know we can use iConcierge, but is it neccesary? We have Verizon and had great coverage when in port, but not much out of port but most sailing is at night so I didn't see it as a real problem. carmzav Posted September 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2015 We had great coverage with Verizon, except for the nights when we were moving to the next island. We were too exhausted to care though!
herdingdogmom Posted September 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) No at sea towers on the POA. No land tower coverage at night when sailing as already noted. Put phone in airplane mode at night or else it will be dead in the morning searching for land towers all night. Also no coverage for Napali coast sailby. Iconcierge is good for texting others on board. Edited September 5, 2015 by herdingdogmom
don't-use-real-name Posted September 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Anywhere within 10 miles of a port should be fine - better on Oahu (Honolulu) except for the very northwest tip (Keana Point). The POA sails at night - put the phone to bed (recharge battery). During the day you are always in a port or on land with maybe a shore excursion. Remote areas on Kauai Maui and the Big Island Hawaii will have spotty reception - on Oahu going thru the H3; LikeLike and Pali tunnels may offer some interference but only very briefly - otherwise it will be just like home - oh and elevators may also be a small problem but briefly. The marvels of nature supersede the modern marvels of telephone technology unless using the phone for digital picturing put the distraction away and enjoy your memorable vacation- Look now - Talk later ! LOL !
greatlakesgirl Posted September 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2015 I have verizon and had no problems with coverage. Also, as noted, there is no cell tower on the POA so no Cellular At Sea to worry about.
Bronx Bomber Girl Posted September 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Does anyone have any experience with T-Mobile coverage on POA? Will be sailing Oct 10th and was concerned about the coverage and when to put phone in airplane mode. Thanks for any help.

My mother-in-law has/had T-Mobile when we were on the cruise and she had no trouble with it. We never used airplane mode.
