Anyone back from the Pride?

We were on a month ago. Fourth time aboard. 2.0 upgrades are great- Guy's, Blue Cantina and Alchemy Bar are great additions- shouldn't be missed. I miss the old-school production numbers and nightly shows. I personally am not a fan of the playlist production shows and the Love & Marriage show as the primary entertainment. AC was an issue in our cabin. While we did see effort to resolve- they never got it "fixed". Green slide was out of commission all week. From reading the threads- seems it's been down for quite a while. A simple communication to let people know would probably be a good idea. Cruise Director and entertainment staff seem to be calling it in. As frequent cruisers we have a reference for comparison and this particular team seem to have grown leery of the monotomy and don't seem to bring any real excitement or energy to the activities they lead. While I'm okay with this- i do feel bad for first-time cruisers because some of the lido activities and such can be a lot of fun.

Overall the crew is one of the friendliest and hard-working we've encountered recently. Definitely fewer bar waiters on deck and in the lounges. Dining room is staffed as it has been the past couple years with staff spread too thin to make meaningful connections with the guests like they did in years gone by- but the food and service were good and Ken the maitre-de is fantastic! David's steakhouse is also very good if you get the chance to go!

Did you try the social media package while you were on the ship?

Yes. Dh had the $60 package (he needs access to emails) and I bought the $25 package. Service was spotty. I messages to back home didn't work, but I was able to fb messenger home. I also had some occasional trouble logging in, but for $25 I'd get it again.

I know the CD has recently changed, who did you have? We do have a few first time cruisers I hope they aren't disappointed.

I was on Pride 8/16-8/23.

Green slide closed all week except for embarkation day.

I used the $25 social media package. Was fantastic! Never had any trouble with it. I used imessage, facebook, snapchat, and instagram. Well worth the money I thought.

CD was Steve Kinsey (?) he was more subdued than most CDs I have come in contact with but very nice. And he seemed to be everywhere.

Just back yesterday. .. not big on writing reviews... but I will be happy to answer any questions for anyone.... the green thunder worked fine from Sunday to wednesday, then was dead.... problem with the door closing, but I got to ride about four times, and it was great... best part was that it's fresh water.

Just returned from Pride on Sunday, September 6th. Green slide was down most of the week. My 11 year old grandson was on it and scraped his back pretty bad. Guest services gave him antibiotic ointment and band aids. There were 2 other instances that I am aware of that had the same outcomes. Both had scrapes on their backs. I believe this may have caused them to shut down the slide. The maître,d had told me that he did not think they were going to switch over to the American Table menu until sometime in November. The cruise was great. Staff was very good. The meals were the same as they usually are (we have been on several Carnival cruises) and we enjoyed them. The weather was fantastic. No hurricane Erika issues. The Platinum party was small and I didn't think their were many differences in number of drinks provided and kinds of snacks offered. Our platinum gift was the Tervis Tumblers.

I hope they keep some variety in the menu if they switch it to American Table (I'm guessing this means more American style food?) I am not a vegetarian by any means, but tried the Indian Vegetarian main course the last night in the MDR, and it was excellent! Anyone know if these recipes are sold anywhere by Carnival? I'd like to make the sweet potato soup too.

Just got back myself on 9/13, and the Green Thunder was open all days except for one mid week- possibly due to wind? Was much better than I was expecting to find on a ship. The yellow slide was slow for me, unless I tried to sit up..

I liked all the 2.0 mods, the burrito stand was excellent! Guy's burger joint was too. Is it me, or would a clear guide to what food venues are open when/where be helpful? I know some info is available in the daily FunTimes, but, unless I missed it, we had to figure out when the burrito place was open.

Just back yesterday. Had a nice cruise. It was our third time on the Pride. The improvements are great. Although, I'm not sure how the Alchemy Bar will do going forward. It was pretty empty every time we passed through. Guy's Burgers were good, and we tried the new Sushi dining outside the casino. That was good as well. We had traditional dining, late seating. Food was good, Maitre'd was excellent. We requested a certain table and he was super accommodating, and a nice singer. I thought the Cruise Director was MIA. I suppose he was doing his job directing his crew, but I wouldn't have known him If I fell over him. I think I saw him once during the entire cruise, and maybe briefly on the TV. He may want to connect with the passengers just a little bit. Anyway have a great cruise!!! I'm wishing I was up on the Lido deck right about now.
