WE took our first HAL cruise this spring and loved it especially the entertainment like the adagio (?) strings and the blues gands. We just booked a cruise on the Prinsendam in Aug of next year because of the itinerary. Was wondering because of the size if they will they have the strings group and other decent entertainment on board? Thanks, Bob from TX

Two years ago we had Adagio on the P'dam in the Explorers Lounge every evening. They've dropped the 'strings' part of the name because it's now usually just one violin and a piano ... and some nights just one or the other. No BB King though!

Our cruise was a T-A and the last segment of a Grand Med cruise, so the entertainment we had in the main show room was probably not your typical things ... Catalan and flamenco singers/dancers while off Spain, then repeat comedians and singers for the string of sea days.

Adagio has always been on our Prinsendam cruises and all of the performances have been very, very good.

Prinsendam's entertainment has some solosists as well, which are quite good in our experience.

No BB Kings on this little ship, but if you are in the right dining room, you can hear hints of the Adagio in the background at dinner. Very nice :)

We just spent several cruises on the Prinsendam. And yes the Adagio was still playing. In fact, we heard two different groups since one group's contract ended during our cruise.

The Prinsendam Singers and Dancers were exceptional good on our cruise. Cast, music, arrangement and costumes out of London. Enjoyed all their performances, but especially loved "Dance".

Except for a couple of acts, most of the entertainment was quite good. Especially, the group from Belfast who performed while we were in Dublin. There were about 15-20 musicians and 3 dancers. The majority were young people from an Irish School of Music. First time we saw them, it was the younger kids. The second time, it was the kids about to graduate. So anyone going to Dublin next year might want to stay on the ship when it stays late or overnight. As this show is not to be missed.

From mid-October to mid-March, Alexandru (Violin) and Andreea Coseru (Piano) will form the Adagio on the Prinsedam. They just left the Veendam. During the Voyage of the Vikings cruise, I missed dessert in the main dining room every night (but 1) so that I could hear their complete first set. The Explorers' Lounge was full for most of their sets, even given the excellent set of entertainers aboard for the VoV.

We're glad to hear that the pianist and violinist who will be on the Prinsendam this winter are so good. We very much enjoyed Roger and Jose on our last Prinsendam cruise and Roger with a different violinist on the cruise before. So it seems that whenever we go, we're be assured of some exceptionally pleasant music.

Just got off the Prinsendam and especially enjoyed hearing Anton and Svetlana each evening. They are musicians with great talent and ability. I hope they continue to play for Holland America in future cruises. Loved hearing good classical music again.
