PBC29 Posted September 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Prefer to sail out of FLL but this year our groups cruise is out of Miami. Just wondering if the new (to us) tunnel cuts down on the time going to or from the airport. Last time we sailed out of Miami we hit a lot of accidents and road construction, even the taxi driver commented it normally didn't take as long as it took us that trip. Rare crewsweeper Posted September 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Depending on the time of day, it does by a few minutes. You avoid having to drive through downtown Miami where the lights will get you even if the traffic is light on a Saturday or Sunday morning. No control over accidents. Rare mcatmcat Posted September 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2015 I'm not really sure, as I was testing the tunnel when they opened for some reason I felt that it took me longer to reach to the front of the ship. Inside the new tunnel speed limit is 35mph ( I believe) and you don't really travel in a straight line. For me no matter the traffic or day I'm sailing I prefer the new tunnel, it's new [emoji12]
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2015 I would say a couple of minutes shorter but the reality is like most cities you just never know what to expect. Always give yourself more time than you think you need. Keith
