Casual Restaurant in Vancouver

We will be flying into YVR and arrive on a Sunday around 1:30 pm. We are staying at Blue Horizon hotel. Can anyone suggest a good, but not too expensive place to stop for lunch before arriving at the hotel (not seafood)? TIA

Before the hotel? One concern I have is luggage.... the airport offers a good variety of restaurants and usually has space set aside for luggage.

Lots of restaurants on robson st near the blue horizon

 

Cactus club comes to mind . a chain but quite decent

My favorite near there is Zefferelli"s An italian spagetti type place with great food

We will have a rental car, so no worries on the luggage. :)

I'll assume that the fact you've done a couple of prior Alaskan cruises means your decision to rent a car and a downtown hotel was an educated one and there will be a net benefit to offset high parking costs etc.

 

Personally I'd also eat before leaving YVR or after checking in to BH, but if the 2-3pm slot works for your stomachs' timezone and normal appetite levels then what about stopping at Granville Island on the way to the hotel? You can combine one of the high points of local tourism with lunch plus avoid the biggest crowds (every single bus tour that takes people to or from cruises visits here in the morning to around 1pm, so there will be fewer tourists by the time you get here).

 

Parking does cost $3.50 an hour but there are very few lots any cheaper around downtown and there are plenty of dining options across a variety of budgets, from grabbing picnic components or premade sandwiches & snacks at the stalls in the public market, to sit-down restos and pubs like The Keg or Cat's Socialhouse that are not seafood-primary.
