andrewjb1 Posted September 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2015 Hello, Can anyone tell me how they are handing not leaving the EU, (due to the Tunisia situation) in relation to duty and sales tax? During a recent voyage leaving Barcelona on the Norwegian Epic, the shops had to charge Spanish Duty on Liquor and Cigarettes alongside Spanish sales tax on all transactions. Im hoping that home-porting in Italy combined with Italy's record on tax conformance they will ignore the rules! Thanks Andrew
Rare Beamafar Posted September 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) Afraid not, Andrew. The cigarettes and liquor were removed from the shelves in the onboard "Duty-free" shop. There's very strict enforcement of the duty-free rules in the ports, too. I remember being in Barcelona on the Preziosa TA last March. The duty-free shops even marked the prices in relation to the ships in port! The itineraries of the various cruise ships are known - just like being in an airport and having to show your boarding pass, you have to show your cruise card.
