Ebola?

Just received a booking notification with this attached:

Following the recent news regarding the Ebola virus, we wish to advise you that

in collaboration with international health authorities we have implemented new

screening and boarding procedures. Any passenger or crew member who has

travelled to or through Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea within 21 days of their

cruise departure date will be denied boarding.

This policy also applies to anyone who has had contact with or helped care for,

a person suspected of having Ebola within 21 days of their cruise departure

date. We are also screening our bookings for any passengers coming from these

countries. We continue to monitor the situation closely, along with our

colleagues in the rest of the travel industry.

Google News for 'ebola' has nothing remotely new. Anyone know anything? (Not that I'm in the group that will be denied boarding).

Surely it is better to be safe than sorry, we had this notification 2 weeks before we sailed in early September, it is only the same as making sure your hands are sterilised before you enter the dining areas, and sometimes before boarding the ship.

I don't think anyone would disagree.

Yes, of course precautions are necessary, it was just that the notice started with "Following the recent news regarding the Ebola virus" and I couldn't find anything 'recent'. If someone in P&O has 5 minutes, maybe they could rephrase the notice to 'ongoing'.

Sadly Ebola is still in existance in some countries, and I think that any travel company should be applauded for highlighting the risks involved, and who is at risk.

Thankfully.
