Boarding Procedures For Ship Sailing At 11:00 PM

On Nov 4, 2016 the MS Eurodam is scheduled to sail from Barcelona at 11:00 PM.

What is the normal boarding times/requirements for those new boarders for the TA portion and how does it work for those of us who were already on-board and continuing on?

Does everyone have to be on-board early or are we allowed to enjoy Barcelona until a couple of hours before boarding.

Muster Drill?

May have to call Hal but I'm sure some of you have had this experience before.

Thanks.

Boarding is the same fleet wide, world wide. It will start around 11:30.

Typically in non-US ports, people on B2B/Collectors Cruises treat the day as a standard port day. Come and go as you please.

Can't answer the question about the muster.

Eons ago when we sailed out of Acapulco (sp?) at 11pm they held muster the next morning at 10 or 10:30am.
We once had a next-morning muster out of Seward, but that changed with the Concordia tragedy. Now musters are always done before sailing. Edited by jtl513

On the Voyage of the Vikings, we were told in Amsterdam that we all had to go to the muster drill because you can't go more than 30 days without attending one and the complete cruise was 35 days. So I guess the answer is that if from start to finish you are on board less than 30 days that you won't have to do the Barcelona drill if it isn't your embarkation port.

We boarded the Zuiderdam in Barcelona this spring and it stayed overnight in Barcelona, leaving at 11:00pm the next day. On embarkation day, they ran the muster drill about 3:30 or 4:00pm. We were required to attend. It went quick because they used scanners to read eveyone's room cards as we arrived. I believe they ran makeups for folks that were late boarders, but I don't remember hearing any general announcements about makeup muster.

As for attending additional muster drills. If they hold a general muster drill, like on the second leg of a B2B, all passengers are expected to attend, even if they did an earlier one. It seems their policy, which I agree with, is "Practice makes perfect".

Even though you do not sail until 11 pm, you can board about 11 or 11:30 am, dump the carry-ons in your cabin then get off and explore. You will info about the muster drill in your cabin but often there will be 2, one in the late afternoon that you will be expected to attend if you check in earlier and one the next morning for passengers who arrive in the evening.

You will be required to attend the muster on each leg of a B2B

Ours is a 22 day cruise which starts in Barcelona on 28 Oct. There is also a seven day leg starting in Barcelona on the 28 October for our Tunisa, Med, Italy Monte Caro portion.

On 4 November we return to Barcelona where folks also board for the TA portion and we sail at 11:00 PM.

Our 22 days was sold as a 22 day cruise and there was no mention of B2B.

Some Roll Call members had questions so I asked here and appreciate the replies.

aliaschief,

HAL sells individual legs of cruises. They also sell multiple legs as Collector cruises. The collector version is a little cheaper than buying each leg individually. You should not have to change your cabin. But it is the equivalent of a Back2Back (B2B), and you will have to attend the muster drill for each leg, even though you booked it as a single cruise.

OH and one thing to watch out for with excursions. Once your first leg starts, you can only book excursions for that first leg. You cannot book excursions for the second leg until that leg starts. It has to do with how they keep their records. So if you plan to book HAL excursions, do so before your trip starts to be sure you get the ones you want.
