Mom not coming: no show or cancel?

Our 89 year old Mother is not feeling up to our extended family cruise leaving in 5 days. Nothing serious enough for all of us to cancel but she is not up to traveling. She chose not to purchase insurance and is not worried about the cost but wants the rest of us to go and not have to worry about her. What's the best way to proceed? Have her be a no-show or if we cancel will she get port charges, taxes, prepaid DSC back? Any advice appreciated.

It's a no brainier. No show. Right now you in 100 penalty if you cancel. Why go through unnecessary hassles by canceling.

Only until the 100% cancellation period starts.

 

"There is no Cancellation fee for guest 3-8 if cancelled outside of the 100% cancellation period. If the reservation is cancelled within the 100% cancellation period then the applicable cancellation fee will apply for guest 3-8."

She is booked in a cabin with my sister. Not worried about losing cost of cruise. She knew the risk. I'm just hoping to recover Prepaid DSC and port fees.

Is it possible to have someone else join as a sub at this point (with NCL's blessing, of course)? I've never done it but it seems like it might be a third option for you.

TA said that can be done up to 48 hours before departure but we are reluctant to do that in case she changes her mind.
