Hi, I hear about people getting upgraded from inside cabins to outside, or from window cabins to balcony rooms, but is anyone ever lucky enough to get an upgrade from a balcony stateroom to a suite?

I was offered one once, but

 

1. It was because I was in a wheelchair and it would have gone n the room a bit easier.

 

2. It was a four day cruise

 

3. The girls had already unpacked and set up and figured it wasn't worth the hassle

 

4. The ship was only half full

with upgrades anything is possible but you could get upgraded to the worst location so if you have a good location you could always ask your booking agent no upgrade because what the cruise line considers an upgrade you may not like it

We gladly accepted a free upgrade from a Junior Suite to a Grand Suite on our last cruise with Royal. Never had to spend a penny on drinks :p

Did not experience any deck noise.
