Teamlegaleagles Posted September 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2005 My wife and I have only cruised Carnival; so, we are used to having only one upcharge alternative, which is much more upscale than the dining rooms and very, very good. Please tell me you experiences with the alternative dining choices on the Golden (or similar class ships). We will have assigned seating in one of the dining rooms as we will be with a group of friends, but will likely try the alternative dining options for at least a couple of nights. I am interested in the name of the restaurant, type of cuisine, cost, and especially the quality of the food, service and overall experience as compared to the main dining rooms. Thanks. Nitemare Posted September 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Search this board for Sabatini's and Desert Rose Steakhouse. We ate at Sabatini's last week ($20/head) and LOVED it. There's a menu with 5-6 courses on it, but the waiter tells you to pick a pizza (7" or so) and an entree, and not to worry about the other courses, because you're gonna get all of the other options. And they were all tremendous. Menu skews towards seafood (most folks (including me) get the lobster), but there are non seafood options available. sunprincess Posted September 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Teamlegaleagles, Was on the Golden B2B this past March. We had an excellent cruise. As for alternative dining options I will second a vote for Sabatinis. Well worth the $20 cover fee per person. Be sure you go hungry. Loads of great Italian food. The Steakhouse cover is $15/person. I enjoy this as well. Wonderful steaks cooked to perfection. Never any complaints for me on Princess service or quality of food. I think you will be pleased. Enjoy your cruise :)
spongerob Posted September 29, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2005 The alternative restaurants are no fancier dress-wise than the rest of the ship. Desert Rose aka Sterling was extremely good in August. Don't miss the chocolate pecan pie. I could really go for a piece of that right now. ;)
