We just got our personalized cruise booklet from Oceania, two months pre-cruise. tedsto Posted November 10, 2015 #52 Share Posted November 10, 2015 We just returned from Barcelona to Lisbon on Marina, our fifth Oceania cruise and second on Marina. Pre-cruise, we had concerns about the ownership change. Surprisingly, the effect of the merger was positive. Specifically, my wife found the sashimi quality at the buffet to be excellent and better than before. The service was impeccable, and the demeanor of the staff was very upbeat. The only negative was that the butler only provided two selections for canapes, we had more on previous cruises. But, he did provide a course by course meal in our cabin, from different dining venues. He also set up our cabin for our friends to enjoy the meal with us. We traveled with others who were very particular about their food. On multiple occasions we heard "the steak is cooked perfectly", the lobster is tender and the best I've had, etc. There were plenty of new dishes, one was an apple filling, with toasted goat cheese and sweetened panko crust. Amazing. Additionally, there was great attention to detail. Upon re boarding at Tangier, all passengers had to walk over a disinfectant soaked doormat to sanitize their shoes. ano Posted November 11, 2015 #53 Share Posted November 11, 2015 I would not be concerned about it on Oceania. All I can see for them are the port time changes which people have said is over. It seems to me NCL is being squeezed for money maybe to support the other two. I just came back from a trip on the Gem in the three bedroom garden villa. A 4500 square foot two story villa. Altho we had a nice trip I was surprised at how little came with the best room on the ship and beside the size how plane and tired it looked. The goal on NCL seems to charge extra for everything except the buffet and basic MDR. Even their the menu has many extra charge items. So Oceania passangers are safe. Sent from my SM-T320 using Forums mobile app We just got off an 11-day on NCL and were very presently surprised because it was just the opposite of that. There was no one pushing drinks, and no extra cost items in the dining room like Carnival and Royal do now-a-days. The only unreasonable charge was the $7.95 for room service (which carnival and Royal do NOT have.) And this was the CHEAPEST balcony room per day i have ever had.
