caribill Posted November 4, 2015 #26 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Wow! I actually lost an upgrade that was supposed to be part of my package. The promotion was an upgraded view (same cabin type)' date=' included gratuities, and one specialty dining. Because we need an HA cabin and there were no "standard" balconies available, we were required to book a large balcony. They explained that IF there had been a standard available, we could have booked that and received a complimentary upgrade to the large, but because the standard wasn't available there was "nothing that could be done." Rather a bummer to have to pay for it, but the larger balcony sounds great. Oh well, included gratuities is still a great deal.[/quote'] I am a little confused here. In that promotion, all cabins of the same type were priced the same, no matter the location. And a standard balcony cabin has different size balconies depending where it is located. The size of the balcony is not a factor in the pricing. And a HA balcony cabin would also be priced the same although it would have a balcony that is wider since the cabin is wider. Of course a Premium Balcony or a Deluxe Balcony would be a different category and have a different and higher price. But even with these, the balconies could be the same size or larger than Standard Balcony cabin balconies depending on location. So I am not sure why you had to pay more unless you had to book a Premium or Deluxe HA balcony cabin instead of a Standard HA balcony cabin. CruisingJs Posted November 4, 2015 #28 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Well, out of 2 cruises in 2015, I received 2 upsells! Very nice! Ocean view obstructed to balcony.... I also found out that my casino discount expires on December 17, 2016... that should allow me to book cruises well into 2018. Very happy! It sounds like you should run out and buy a lottery ticket. You're on a Streak!

CruisingJs Posted November 4, 2015 #30 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Janice, let's see if I can get a mini-suite on our Panama Canal cruise!!!!😁😁😁😁 Not holding my breath though! There's only one category of mini suite left and the prices are through the roof! It must be selling well. We'll have to see how many people hang in there when final payment is due. Sure would like an upsell to a suite. :D

I always thought this cruise would sell well and prices would increase rather than drop.
bigenna Posted November 5, 2015 #32 Share Posted November 5, 2015 It's a lot better than regular sales! Unfortunately, if you haven't received the offer yet, odds are you won't. But, you really never know. I received the offer by email. The discount is 25% off inside cabins, 15% balconies, etc. . Nice discount. But I hope you are wrong and I might someday get the offer too. Wondered about how people found out - in the booking process, or calling Princess to ask, or email notification, or, or, or?

Wondered about how people found out - in the booking process, or calling Princess to ask, or email notification, or, or, or? We were never notified that we had qualified for the casino rate. We found out by accident when booking a cruise. We now have 3 cruises booked using the casino rate.
Square Posted November 5, 2015 #34 Share Posted November 5, 2015 It was offered to some passengers, not all. What the criteria was for Princess, we don't know. Either passengers got the offer, or they didn't. I think it's a combination of past cruising history and some gambling history. A lot of us, who did get that offer, don't gamble much. But there's no way of knowing. Nice, there's no way of applying for it, sorry. However, if you do gamble fairly heavily, you'll get some type of offers. Interesting... We received a mailer with some cruises that had a small poker table in the corner and said something to the affect of, "see why these cruises appeal to casino players like you" and had a code underneath that. I never called in specifically about that code but I might try that and see if we can get a better deal on a cruise we have booked for Feb 2016. Anybody have info on what exact kind of mailer you got to tell you about a casino rate?

Wondered about how people found out - in the booking process, or calling Princess to ask, or email notification, or, or, or? You never know! I found out that if you don't "qualify" for one offer, you'll usually get another... So, it's a wash. I got an email.

I seriously doubt that it will still be available for a February cruise. However, you can call either your TA or Princess with a few cruises you may be interested in later that year or 2017.
