tell me about NCL entertainment

we just got off the Breakaway, it was our 1st NCL cruise in a few years so I'm used to freestyle dinning, but the entertainment was different. I wasn't really a fan of the one show, I forgot what it was called. We never made it to Rock of Ages because it was late and not family friendly, so although I didn't have to pay for the show I would have had to pay for child care and I'm not willing to do that. The circus was also extra $$$. I enjoyed the comedy show. All shows encouraged reservations and were held in very small rooms compared to the size of the ship.

 

Do any NCL ships offer traditional entertainment anymore? I like a nightly show, maybe a comedy show here or there. This was way too much planning for me and there really weren't any options

The broadway shows are on the Getaway, Breakaway, Epic, and Escape. Other ships in the fleet have more traditional entertainment.

Burn The Floor on the Breakaway was wonderful. They also have Comedy shows & Howl at the moon in The Headliners comedy club on deck 6. There are musical acts in Fat Cats, Shakers and the atrium. We never found the venues crowded except Howl at the Moon in Headliners

 

Breakaway has great entertainment. Since you like comedy, Howl at the Moon is the best. The Cirque Show is well worth the money and a winner for most kids. Were your children in the kids club? They even did there own talent show on our cruise.

The kids club was awesome, and they did do the show. However, they are 3 and 5 so although we sent them to practice for a while, the poor kids just rolled on the floor and their age group didn't even get to sit in the theater, they had them sit on the stairs in the back and didn't den come out for the grand finally. It was cute, but I look forward to when they can be more involved.

 

I just prefer traditional entertainment when I do't have to think much about it.

Asking for a family friendly show at 8:00 on a family vacation is not out of the ordinary. A few were available, but not every night and a times not without spending another $100. I don't get the point of these snarky responses. And you know, I do demand a G rated show in the evening. I'd like to spend my vacation with my family, not sending them to the kids club every night because there is nothing for us to do together.

I've heard rock of ages was excellent. Most adult geared shows are. Imagine if they had barney lol.

Edit: The early shows have often been more G rated....the comedien jokes are not as off-color, the magicians do some tricks with the kids, and so on. It is done and fun for all.

If you want to have separate shows for the " little darlings " in the kids area then whatever but don't make the rest of us adults suffer through that crap.

I think the NCL Breakaway entertainment is some of the best I've ever seen on a cruise. And we cruise a lot. We mostly cruise RCCL buy the Breakaway to me had them beat. The dancers are top notch and Rock of Ages cast was amazingly talented

Although we love ROA, we agree with the OP and like nightly theater shows, with other events (adult also) held in various venues, as on the Jewel/Gem. One problem on the away ships are no Spinnaker lounge for events

I agree. We miss Spinnnaker lounge also! Was a cool hangout with great views :(
