Cell Phone Service on Grandeur

You can get great cell service while sailing down the Chesapeake. So, for first 8 hours of cruise you can make calls. They turn on the Cellular at Sea until you are out at sea. I think I turned my phone to not allow roaming, so the phone only worked when it could access the Verizon towers. The phone automatically hooked up when we got close to PC.

Thanks for the responses. I use ATT and purchased a calling plan last year which was useless because I couldn't get a signal. I was finally able to make calls in San Juan and St. Thomas. Hopefully this year will be better.

Are you saying that there was no cellular at sea service?
