Lodging in Tampa

Need help from fellow cruisers. I am driving in with 3 sisters meeting 2 other sisters in Tampa (they have a car also).

We can stay at a hotel close to the airport and they will let us park our cars their while we are on our cruise. The room rate is $20 more to park our cars there for the five days. The hotel has a shuttle which will take us to the cruise terminal also.

Questions....

Have any of you used shuttles like this before? When we return from our cruise will we have to wait a long time for the return shuttle?

I found a lot near the port that would cost us $40 per car. This way we would have our cars immediately upon return. Has anyone used the lots close to the terminal? Are they safe?

thanks much for your answers.

Parking Doctors is $7 a night with a reservation and they have a free shuttle for you and your luggage to the port.

Among the stay, park and cruise hotels, the Hampton Inn is a good one. Worst case scenario, if the shuttle is taking too long to appear, you can always take a taxi from the port to the hotel to get your car.

As I recall, Tampa cruise port valet parking was $125.00 ?? (plus a tip...) Someone correct me, if I'm too far off. They park the cars behind a security fence, with port security on site, 24/7. It's so close you could literally throw something from the deck and hit the parking lot. For convenience, I'd say it is hard to beat.
