Stacylee Posted October 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2005 Three things that I learned and wanted to share: 1) If you are a coffee drinker, bring your own insulated cup from home. It was so much easier to fill up and carry my mug around without spilling. Many people commented that it was great idea - as they juggled their little cup. Also, there is a BRAND NEW Starbucks in Nassau right across from the dock. That made my day :D . 2) Plan to spend some cash (if you have kids) at the arcade. You have to put cash on your sea pass for the games - so it can be controlled I imagine. My son was constantly waking me up at midnight for $20 to play games lol! On the last night, the arcade was free for one hour. BTW, there is a 1:00 a.m. curfew for all kids 14 and under. 3) If you are celebrating a birthday, there is really no need to buy the cake in advance (I did, but it was never delivered and I didn't push it). I told the head waiter that it was my son's birthday. They delivered a special dessert and sang. I didn't need to spend the money for the cake - the desserts were much better than a cake anyway. Oops one more thing... adding gratuities to your room charge. The room steward put a paper in my cabin - 2 times - about doing this. Well, in the begining of the cruise I didn't want to hear about this - not yet. But when I did go to read it, it was too late :( . I had to turn it in by midnight the day before the last night... understand?? Anyway, I had the cash but ended up getting more cash from Key West to cover the tips because I had planned on putting them on my sea pass. ALso.... DO NOT PUT your room keys next to each other in a pocket. It erases the magnetic strip. We couldn't get into our cabin for our muster drill - and had to track down our room steward to let us in, then to the pursers desk for new keys. Always an adventure!!! Always an adventure!!!I did it for 9 days with no problem. Don't know what happened with yours.
powelweb Posted October 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2005 Staceylee- Instead of hitting ATMs in ports or onboard, just go to the casino and charge $ against your seapass to use for tips. works like a charm and no service fee. Wendy
racephoto Posted October 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2005 Thanks for the tip about the Starbucks...good to know! And the tip about getting cash at the casino.....I just assumed they would rock you with a wicked surcharge so I would never have thought of that. Stacylee Posted October 3, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted October 3, 2005 I knew about going to the casino - but when I looked at the tipping paper, we were in Key West and the casino would not be open again before I needed to tip at dinner :( . That is always a good backup if you need more cash during the cruise.
