Taxi vs tour company

We want to do a mini island tour but do not want to go with a large® crowd. Do taxis double as tour guides? What is the rate to hire a taxi? Are there any recommended taxi drivers? We just want to hit the highlights, maybe 3 to 4 hours. There will be 4 of us

Yes. We did a taxi tour in Antigua. You will be bombarded when you get off the ship. $25 per person, hit all the highlights, brought you to Valley Church Beach which was wonderful, waited for you, and returned you to the pier when you were ready. We had Joseph, he was awesome!

We will be in Antigua in early February. Been to Nelson's Dockyard more than once, and would like to see more of the island this time. We cannot do beaches - hubby will have had cataract surgery soon before our trip, and the doc says no swimming, no beaches because of the sand.

 

A taxi tour sounds good. So aside from beaches and Nelson's, can you suggest other interesting places and sights to see when we are in Antigua?

For $25/person, how many hours is the hour ?

Someone mentioned a Taxi tour for $25.00 pp. Can you give me an idea how long the tour was? Did they tour for about an hour, etc., and then take a person to the beach, and then come pick you up for that price or what?
