WHat is that ferry near the port?

SO, I just got off of a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, and there is still one thing that bugs me. When I was returning from my trip to the Ice bar, I saw a BUNCH of people go on a ferry with beach stuff? It is literally right off the dock where Carnival docks. Where does this ferry go and how does it work? Anyone who knows please share. Thank you!

That could be one of boats used for a ship excursion. At one point they had a boat going to Abi Beach Bar and some have a ferry that takes people directly to St John.
