Suenos del mar Posted January 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Hello Fellow cruisers! I did a quick search of the forums for info on the Triumph and turned up very little. I noticed no "All things..." thread showed up for her so I thought I would open one. I'm sailing on her in September so any tidbits, tips, must do's, things to avoid? Suenos del mar Posted January 12, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted January 12, 2016 I haven't had any luck finding recent fun times, does anyone have any? I know cd's change often, but who is the cd currently?
Cooks1011 Posted January 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2016 I will scan my Fun Times from this past weekend. Our Director was Saffie. She did her job but it seemed like the others I've had before was more out there and we saw them ALOT more.
fam2cruise Posted January 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Has anyone ordered a bottle of wine or champagne from room service once on board? Were you able to get it the first day? I know if you order from Bon Voyage ahead of time they won't deliver it until the next day (at least that's my understanding when you sail from Texas). Suenos del mar Posted January 13, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Nwo4life, we are on the same sailing. I'm looking forward to the 2.0 stuff also. I've only been on the fantasy (x2) so far.
h_blond2 Posted January 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2016 I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say about the Triumph. This cruise will be my first not on a Fantasy class ship!
Jana60 Posted January 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Triumph is in my favorite Carnival ship with the exception that they don't have a refrigerator in the room. I'm hoping that they don't get rid of her show band like they've done on so many of the other ships. My past experience has been that they have a great show band, good shows, good magic show, and very friendly staff! Only things they need to add or a steakhouse, refrigerators, and Mongolian wok. Smudge0108 Posted January 16, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Sailed on the Triumph 2 years ago and going again next month. Guy's Burgers were a huge hit. Sent from my SM-T210R using Tapatalk
paulatay Posted January 16, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Just off the Triumph a week ago. I heard so many bad thing about the ship I didn't want to go but we booked for a friends birthday and I couldn't get out of it. Well, I'm so glad I went and I have no complaints about the ship at all. She's a lot like the Freedom but I think a touch smaller. Do everything you can! The highlight for us were the 2 soloist. One signing Texas Country usually out on Lido and the other in the Atrium signing a variety of music. Crew was friendly, food was good, everything was always clean. I would def sail her again. BallFour4 Posted January 16, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) I've taken my family on the Triumph seven times since she came to Galveston replacing the Ecstasy. All our trips have been fun, relaxing vacations. Keep in mind the ship entered service in 1999, so the size, design and things they cannot change are dated by todays standards. Here are some of my favorite images collected over time aboard the ship. The staff in the Paris dining room are some of the best at sea. Both production shows are very good, and there are tons of deck chairs on the aft and side decks to relax. Enjoy your vacation! . txmom11 Posted January 17, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 17, 2016 We sail in 11 days and it will be my third (and DH's 2nd) time on the Triumph. DD and I sailed before the fire and then we let our husbands come along :p after the revamp. LOVED it. The way we got handled the Texas rules about having the bottle of wine (or in the case of my DD, vodka) delivered on the first day, was to order it from room service once we were in international waters. Worked like a charm. Being from Texas, I'll admit we have some weird liquor laws. You learn to follow the law but work around it. christyran1228 Posted January 17, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 17, 2016 We will be on the Triumph 4 weeks from today ... we're pretty excited. Been scouring YouTube videos of the ship to pass the time! 😆
atlanta_living Posted January 17, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 17, 2016 We'll be on the Triumph for the first time in Sept. We've sailed the Fascination a few times, the Fantasy & last year the Dream. Very excited to be sailing the Triumph especially after seeing those awesome pictures. I haven't seen a lobby like the one pictured on any Carnival ship that we've sailed so far. I started a Roll Call for our sailing so hoping some others join soon. :) Helen

nwo4life Posted January 17, 2016 #20 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Nwo4life, we are on the same sailing. I'm looking forward to the 2.0 stuff also. I've only been on the fantasy (x2) so far. Join the roll call, only 3 posters on it now. I think you will like Triumph better than Fantasy. The biggest changes you will see is the big screen for movies, the aft pool with retractable roof, 3 level showroom, and larger lobby which has open decks of of it. I've sailed the Sunshine with the 2.0 upgrades and while I like Guy's, I love the Blue Iguana burrito bar especially at breakfast.
ptcounselor Posted January 17, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) I just took quick photos of my fun times from Jan 2. Hope they help. Best cruise ever! I have been on Triumph twice. Once when she was NEW out of Miami and then two weeks ago. I had never sailed out of Galveston. Weather wasn't ideal, but the experience was awesome. Service was exceptional. We had my 3 boys with us, ages 20, 16 and 10. I also took a pic of the Camp Ocean agenda to upload. My 16 year old spent almost the entire time in the Camp O2 or with kids he met. He is still snap chatting kids he met! Our steward was SUPERB! Deck 7, Oleksy, "Alex". Went above and beyond! We had 3 interior rooms, and he sure made us feel great! My youngest loves the towel animals and Alex showed him how to make them and let us keep them all in our cabin the entire cruise and make a "zoo" at the foot of his bed. It was awesome and he is still talking about it. His birthday was Monday, so I bought him the towel making book from Carnival to add to his gift. Alex snuck it into my cabin and hid it under my bed so it would be a surprise and I could pack it. The ship is nice and clean. The Dive in Movies are good. My youngest enjoyed them the most, along with my husband. I enjoyed the casino. Serge and Enrique are super nice..and I even came home a winner... A small winner, but I gave my oldest some to play on and he was NOT a winner, so I was lucky to be able to say I'm ahead at all! :). We had early dining in the Paris Dining Room. Food was good and Jerald was our server. He was nice and always called us by name. The Sports Bar was our favorite bar and the two men that work in there were GREAT!!!! ENJOY your time on the Triumph! I want to go back.... Like today! Edited January 17, 2016 by ptcounselor

247kay Posted January 17, 2016 #23 Share Posted January 17, 2016 My husband and I have cruised twice once with RC and once with Carnival on the Legend about 5 years ago. Since then we have been traveling Europe. Now we have two babies (7 months and 2 years) so no more traveling to Europe for now. This will be our first cruise with the babies. I am looking at a 5 day out of New Orleans on the Triumph or a 7 day out of New Orleans on the Dream. Following this Thread to hopefully get some ideas on which to choose. I am a little reluctant to do a 7 day with the littles but then again they may do very well on the ship and it'd be worth the two extra days. I would prefer the seven day when not considering the babies. The ports really don't matter to me although we do love Isla Rotan and Belize which the Dream visit. Did they still have the live show band playing for the shows? Did they have a passenger talent show? I do not have the Fun Times but yes they still have shows with the Orchestra. The show on the last night was called the Big Easy. I don't remember a talent show so I'm not sure.

We love the Dream, our last 3 cruises have been on her for 7 night voyages. Our little one will be 10 months old in September, so we are going to opt for the 5 night on Triumph. We sailed on her before and had a good time, but will miss a few of Dreams amenities.
