Oceania Air - Non-stop or connections to Europe?

We are considering an Oceania cruise on the Riviera in June, a 10 day Mediterranean cruise from Rome on the Riviera. We could fly from Washington Dulles, Philadelphia or Newark.

 

Has anyone flown from one of these airports to a European cruise? If so, were the flights booked by Oceania non-stops, or where they connecting flights?

The short answer is that if you use the Oceania Air program "As is" then you're taking your chances. Depending on the cost and scheduling of those flights you might wind up flying direct or not.

 

If that "chance" seems unacceptable, you might opt to ask for what they call an "Air Deviation", which is a process where you and Oceania will decide together which flight you will be assigned.

 

If the flight which you choose is more expensive than the route which Oceania would have assigned you otherwise, additional fee's might come into play, but as those costs (if any) are disclosed during the negotiation process, there are no "surprises".

 

When you accept your favored routing from Oceania, a $175, non refundable Deviation fee is triggered.

 

Alternately, if you decide not to use Oceania Air arrangements at all, a portion of your Cruise Fare will be refunded. These Air Credits vary by cruise and location.

Best Bet;

 

Pay the deviation fee, and fly in a day early. You'll should still be able to get a non stop. If you wait until the Day of Embarkment and fly in, it really depends upon how many seats Oceania pre-reserved on certain non stops. You are within six months of your cruise, and as time goes on and the cruise fills, the chances of you going through Frankfurt or another larger airport increases.
