NCL Star - Formal Night

On the NCL Star Western Caribbean 7 night is there a single formal night or two formal nights? If so which nights will it/they be on? The first sea day?

Unless this cruise is different from the rest of NCL there are normally no formal nights on NCL. You can be as formal or informal as you like when you dine. That is why NCL has "Freestyle Dining".

 

There is one evening when the captain is usually available for photos in the Atrium and people get formally dressed for photos with him.

Thank you for the reply. In general, which of the dining venues would be appropriate to dress in more formal attire? Not ball gown/tux but cocktail type attire instead of jeans/shirt?

There are two main dining rooms, the more formal is the one in the stern (aft) rather than the one that is more amidships.

 

Of the specialty restaurants le Bistro is probably the most formal.

We're just off the Star (1/17-1/24). The first sea day, which was Monday for us, was the Norwegian's Night Out. This is billed as the night to look your best and have your photo taken with the captain. We found that there were people dressed up and not dressed up every night in all of the specialty restaurants. You won't feel out of place no matter how you dress.

We are just off the 1/31-2/7 sailing. Adding to the above comment, there are photo stations along the atrium with different backgrounds and also on the stairs during Norwegian's Night Out. Every night after that, they have 2 photo stations setup in the Atrium for people that want to dress up and take pictures any evening. I'm not sure of the times, but we did see them every evening heading to the Spinnaker lounge. So you don't have to go crazy waiting in lines that first photo day.

 

As far as dining, the Main Dining Rooms (MDR) are the Versailles on Deck 6 Aft, and Aqua Deck 6 Mid (go Aft or Mid from Deck 7 and go down 1 flight of stairs). The Versailles will allow any dress on Embarkation day, but after that no shorts/bathing suits, tank tops, etc. You will need jeans/slacks (and/or dress for ladies). I'm not sure how restrictive they are on your shirt, but I'd say at minimum a polo.

 

The Aqua is smaller, but will allow anything you're wearing except straight bathing suits. Cover ups and shirts will be needed.

O'Sheehan's - Deck 8 Mid (open 24 hours)

Ginza - Deck 7 Mid
