Port or Star board going to South America?

When going South to Valparaiso or going around the Cape from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires, what side of the ship would be better for a cabin? Does the ship pass close enough to the coast to see anything?

It is almost always well out to sea and the coast is sort of a grey line in the distance. For entering the ports probably the Port side being a little better as you are more often on he land side. Ships cruise some miles from shore and the coastline quickly loses almost all detail. Also few lights on that journey. It is however a magnificent trip. Hope you have wonderful weather.
