cruisin4dhr Posted February 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2016 We've seen conflicting answers to this question so I'm hoping for some current clarification. We are cruising on Carnival Miracle in March with an overnight stop in Puerto Vallarta. How late at night will we be able to get back onboard Miracle on that night of our stop? Thanks for your answer.
sanmarcosman Posted February 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Come and go as you like the gangway is available throughout your stay. We get a condo for the night and stay ashore.
boaterette Posted February 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Just did this in November and you can come and go all night. Up until the next day when departure time comes.
Doctorsbaby Posted February 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2016 We just did this one in December and you could access the ship the entire time we were in port. Enjoy your cruise, that one has been my favorite so far out of 7 cruises [emoji3]
Taters Posted February 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Just of Miracle yesterday. You can come and go as you please at all hours on the overnight stop in Puerto Vallarta.
SadieN Posted February 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) Last May there was an issue. Last week (Mardi Gras) we were getting back on the ship around 10:30p and crew were leaving. FWIW Walmart is open 24/7 and was giving an 18.5:1 exchange rate, official rate was 18.9:1. Edited February 14, 2016 by SadieN
cruisin4dhr Posted February 17, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Thanks everyone for the information. The overnight in PV was a big attraction to this itinerary. We're glad that we'll have the opportunity to enjoy the nightlife scene. :)
ShamelesslyCruising Posted April 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Things seem to be changing for the Carnival Miracle. In September I see this on the itinerary: 9/19/2016 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 9:30 AM 6:00 PM 9/20/2016 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 7:00 AM 4:00 PM We would really love to enjoy the beach at dusk and sunset. I have always wished my Caribbean cruises could overnight in Grand Cayman. Does anyone know if Cabo overnighting will be like PV was/is?

There is no dock. As noted in your post the ship sails at 6pm and comes back at 7am the next morning. Bill

They seem to switch it up with 2 days in Cabo sometimes, 2 days in Puerto Vallarta others, and sometimes only 1 day in each and they add Mazatlan. Cabo is a tender port, so the tenders stop running in the evening shortly before the ship goes back to international waters and then you're stuck in Cabo until the ship comes back and the tenders start running the next morning. So in theory you COULD get your own hotel and stay in Cabo, but there's no guarantee the ship can get back the next day. If some bad weather happens and the ship can't come back and use the tenders, then you'll be stuck in Cabo. To be honest, the Cabo overnighter is totally worthless to us then, what a waste. I wish it was an overnighter in PV. Now, I know why this cruise was cheaper. :-(

iwantsomesun Posted April 12, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Thanks Bill, this info is very helpful, but disappointing. :-) I'd assume this is so that they can go out a ways and open up the casino? Not going to run the tenders all night in the dark so I guess Carnival wants to take the opportunity to make some more $.

Not going to run the tenders all night in the dark so I guess Carnival wants to take the opportunity to make some more $. Yep - that's most likely the case. When we did this itinerary with 2 days in Cabo, they departed and opened the casino+funshops. If you looked at the TV in the atrium that shows the ship's path (or the channel on your stateroom tv) then you could see the ship was literally moving in circles during the night. welldone60 Posted April 12, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 12, 2016 We have sailed on Princess with an overnight in Cabo. Princess ship stays anchored and the tenders run till about midnight, then resume around 6 the next morning. Wish Carnival would do this.
