Access on an Overnight Stop in Puerto Vallarta

We've seen conflicting answers to this question so I'm hoping for some current clarification. We are cruising on Carnival Miracle in March with an overnight stop in Puerto Vallarta. How late at night will we be able to get back onboard Miracle on that night of our stop? Thanks for your answer.

Last May there was an issue. Last week (Mardi Gras) we were getting back on the ship around 10:30p and crew were leaving.

FWIW Walmart is open 24/7 and was giving an 18.5:1 exchange rate, official rate was 18.9:1.

Things seem to be changing for the Carnival Miracle. In September I see this on the itinerary:

9/19/2016 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 9:30 AM 6:00 PM

9/20/2016 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 7:00 AM 4:00 PM

We would really love to enjoy the beach at dusk and sunset. I have always wished my Caribbean cruises could overnight in Grand Cayman.

Does anyone know if Cabo overnighting will be like PV was/is?

No it won't be the same in Cabo as you need to tender in. There is no dock.

As noted in your post the ship sails at 6pm and comes back at 7am the next morning.

They seem to switch it up with 2 days in Cabo sometimes, 2 days in Puerto Vallarta others, and sometimes only 1 day in each and they add Mazatlan.

Cabo is a tender port, so the tenders stop running in the evening shortly before the ship goes back to international waters and then you're stuck in Cabo until the ship comes back and the tenders start running the next morning.

So in theory you COULD get your own hotel and stay in Cabo, but there's no guarantee the ship can get back the next day. If some bad weather happens and the ship can't come back and use the tenders, then you'll be stuck in Cabo.

Thank you for the reply and warnings. To be honest, the Cabo overnighter is totally worthless to us then, what a waste. I wish it was an overnighter in PV. Now, I know why this cruise was cheaper. :-(

Thanks Bill, this info is very helpful, but disappointing. :-)

I'd assume this is so that they can go out a ways and open up the casino? Not going to run the tenders all night in the dark so I guess Carnival wants to take the opportunity to make some more $.

Yep - that's most likely the case. When we did this itinerary with 2 days in Cabo, they departed and opened the casino+funshops. If you looked at the TV in the atrium that shows the ship's path (or the channel on your stateroom tv) then you could see the ship was literally moving in circles during the night.
