CatLover123! Posted February 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Hello! I am a little puzzle as to how this works. I just redeemed some of my points from my BofA Royal Caribbean credit card ($250 OBC). The only thing I received is an email confirming the redemption. I would like to apply the OBC to a shore excursion on my upcoming Anthem cruise (4/18/16) but the credit is not reflected anywhere in my reservation. I read somewhere that the OBC will appear maybe the second day of the sailing. If that's true then I won't be able to book my excursions ahead of time ... Thank you in advance for any information you may have.

Once on board, the OBC usually appears on the afternoon of Day 2. It is completely refundable, so if you don't use it, you can withdraw it at Guest Services the day prior to debarkation. You will have to wait to book your excursion onboard and it can be booked any time. It all goes against your seapass card account and will even out in the end of your cruise. Hope this makes sense!! MattInFLL Posted February 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I just checked on mine for Anthem, and was told they could see the OBC from the Visa points in my reservation, but it won't show up if they send me a copy of my current invoice. He told me to bring the confirmation email with me (from when I redeemed the points) in case it does not show up on board, but that they should be able to see it there too if there was a problem. For our recently completed cruise on Her Majesty of the Seas, we redeemed BofA points as an OBC. Like you it did not appear on our reservation. Called and they said it was in fact there and that it would not be a problem for the Guest Services desk on board to see it, when we get on the ship. We did take the confirmation email that we received when we redeemed the points, but when we stopped at Guest Services after boarding.....they saw the OBC on our onboard account, so no need to even take out the printed copy.....all was fine! Redeeming your points for an OBC will be seen on day 1 by the Guest Services staff if you want to go to them for confirmation once you board. But you can't book an excursion prior to boarding and expect to use the OBC from the redemption....it is an OnBoardCredit to be used against things booked/charged to seapass card when you are onboard. We went to the excursion desk right after confirming that our OBC was there and booked the excursion we wanted. All was just fine.
derekmcsd Posted February 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2016 You will also have confirmation off the OBC when you get your cruise documents issued. It's normally around page 10.
rcixfan5 Posted February 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) Yes look at your "edocs" that are issued after you check in (before the cruise - like around 40-50 days before). That is the only place I have ever seen the OBC from the BOA visa redemptions. The normal booking confirmations don't show the BOA OBC. MattInFLL Posted February 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) This is past cruise docs date for me. So if you're in the same boat - so to speak - call Royal and ask to have your cruise docs re-issued. It takes up to 24 hours for them to run. CatLover123! Posted February 23, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I haven't checked in yet so I will definitely check my edocs. It sounds like it shouldn't be a problem. I will bring the confirmation email with me just in case. Thanks for all your responses.
MattInFLL Posted February 23, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Your edocs are issued one time. If the credit was already there when they were issued - no problem. If you got the credit later you have to call and ask them to reissue the cruise docs.

If you were able to verify with GS on Day 1, it doesn't necessarily mean that it happens on all ships. Our experience has been that GS can not see any OBC until Day 2. Once boarding is complete and OBC is confirmed with Miami for those receiving it, they can then begin to add the OBC to the accounts. It's a long process. The normal booking confirmations don't show the BOA OBC. Depends on when you redeem your Visa Points as to if they will appear in your E-docs. We always redeem points and they have never been included in our e-docs. Edited February 23, 2016 by cruisenfever
