tent for shade

If you have cruised with a baby, what did you use for shade? I am looking for something to use for a Mexico trip (at 4 months old) and a cruise at 10 months. A lot of the things I have seen are recommended for children 1 year and up. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Depending on where you go, you can likely find a place under an umbrella or palapa for shade without having to bring anything along with you.

 

If you are really concerned, bring a portable umbrella with you that you can stick into the sand to create a little extra shade or give baby a big sun hat to wear :)

Kwik Kabana is a pop-up tent about the size of an umbrella. Available at Toys R Us or online. I use them to keep my show cats contained in hotels but that's not their intended purpose.

The pop up tents are great - lightweight and lay flat in your suitcase and will provide shade for all of you. I saw some at Costco over the weekend.

we brought a pop up beach tent that folded in it's carrying case just a little bit larger than an umbrella. it worked out great. this is the one we have:
