Alchemy Bar Menu

This is probably a dumb question, but my oldest will be 19 when we cruise in August. I plan on going to the alchemy bar to try some of the drinks out. :D Will they allow my son to join me if he orders non-alcohol (virgin) drinks? I know some local bars by us won't let him sit at the bar, since he's not 21 yet, even if he orders a soda. Wasn't sure if the Alchemy has similar rules.

Some of these drinks sound REALLY good!!

you should be fine. i just got off a spring break cruise and the cheers bartender made a non alcoholic drink for a girl that was around 8 years old who was sitting at the bar with her parents. i would go to alchemy before dinner with my kids 7 and 10 yrs old but we would sit or stand at the outside chairs not at the actual bar. with your son at 19 i don't think anyone would even look twice at him.

Since your son is over the age of 18, I think he can go and order a "virgin" drink, even without you. ;)

Call me a sucker but the olive, cheese and cashews were or are one of the main reasons I dont mind paying for drinks all-night sitting at the Alchemy bar..Great touch. Good snacks. Good Bait.:D

Yes! We had them almost every night last week on the Conquest.

I too am a Remedy drinker :)

Really?? I think he would love that. He's already excited with the idea of being "legally" able to drink at the ports were going to. [emoji51] oh boy!!

Seriously??? Well, that stinks. They were definitely $10.50 on Victory. Here's a pic of the menu that shows it. Oh well, at least we got $1 off on ladies night.

Yeah, we spent a lot of time there. My wife loved that place. They also had a $1 off special one night, but I don't remember the particulars.

I am sure I will get flamed for this, but don't care, so flame on! I would like to applaud you for sitting or standing at the outside chairs with your children! The parents sitting at the bar with an eight year old, should either get a sitter, as in the youth programs on board, or go somewhere child friendly. When I am at a bar, I don't want to see young children sitting at the bar. It should be an adult atmosphere. Just as, the activities on board that are for young children, should be so. If, I walked into a place for 8 year olds and just wanted to hang around, there would be no question that, that is unacceptable. In some states, it is not legal for children to sit at a bar, in some, just up to the owners. Went to a bar in Miami, when I lived there, that was so convenient to where we lived, thought it would be our "spot". Our 1st Happy Hour experience there was some of the employees children sitting at the bar, watching cartoons. Huh? There's a time and a place for everything. I just don't feel young children have a place in a bar. As far as the OP's 19 year old son, that's a different story. Texas allows minors to sit with parents and they can even buy them a drink. To me, that is up to the parents. But, would bother me if it were a young child. Thanks for being a responsible parent!:)

Cruzelover55, I agree with you. It's really jarring to me to see kids sitting at a bar. It should be an adult place. The problem on Carnival is that you can only get soda at the bars so the kids have to go there. At least Royal Caribbean has soda machines.

At the Alchemy Bar, there are very few chairs and it was frustrating when some of them are being used by kids. Fortunately, they don't serve soda at the Alchemy Bar so we only saw this once on our trip.

I don't see any problem with a 19-year-old, as long as he is actually ordering something.

I understand that kids have to go to a bar to get soda. But, that doesn't mean they have to SIT there. On a family cruise, my nephew had the soda card. He got his sodas on the Lido deck at their bars. Got it and left. He didn't even want to sit there. He was about 16 and had better places he wanted to be at his age. It's the parents that are allowing their young children to sit at a bar with them. The kids are too young to even have a say.:(

I do agree regarding the young children sitting at the bar. I would never have my 11 yo go to the bar with me. But that's my choice. I know some parents that do and it's OK for them. My youngest will be in the kids club. My oldest, however, doesn't have that option & although he does plan on going to the sports area to hopefully meet people of similar age, I know there will be times when he will want to hang out with me. I know...a teenager that actually likes hanging out with his mother...shocking! [emoji12]It's nice to know what options we have and what he will be allowed to do, even if that's sitting at a bar and drinking virgin drinks. That is, until we reach our first port. Then he'll actually be ordering his own drinks...with alcohol. YIKES!! [emoji51][emoji12]

i feel the same way as you. a bar is no setting for children. i would order the drinks at the bar then walk back to the outside seats. my kids actually would sit in the big chairs they have on the glory across from the alchemy bar and play games on my phone. i would meet my sister and her husband before dinner at the alchemy bar around 5:30 for a martini then go to dinner. i would also go to the sports bar with my kids because they liked to get the fruit punch the bartenders make for the kids. but i would stand at the very end of the bar and order. when i got the drinks we would leave. i know when i am at a bar i don't feel like i should have to watch what i say or do because a young kid might be in the bar.

I just got off the Pride and the drinks were $9.95. Also no menus around was just told to tell the bartender what I like and they will make me something. He did this with everyone and it was a fun place to hang out. We all had some great and original drinks there.

I am looking forward to trying this place. It seems more upscale than the regular bars there. Is that correct? Is it hard to get a seat?

It's a nice lobby bar with a cute old time pharmacy theme where the pharmacist mixes up your prescription for you. If they mix several orders at once there can be some showmanship. Drinks are limited to the menu but they have specials where you can give them your drink parameters and they'll create a cocktail for you.

We were there almost daily but usually took the drinks to venues with live entertainment rather than sit at the bar. I don't recall ever seeing the Alchemy bar on the Sunshine without some open seats.

I would agree - there are times that it is busy. But often it is in waves and the drinks are carried out to other locations so seating is not usually an issue.

On the Victory one of our hangouts was the casino bar - because some in our party smoked. I'd walk over the the Alchemy Bar - pick something yummy - and take it back to hang out with the group.

We also spent a couple of evenings evenings sitting at the Alchemy Bar and throughout enjoyed getting to know the "Alchemist" and their special concoctions as they got to know our likes and dislikes. ;) :D

it gets very busy before the dinner services and it is hard to get a seat and get a drink. 5pm when it opens until around 6:10pm when everyone goes to dinner. after that it empties quickly and you will have no problem getting a seat until around 7pm when people go before the 8:30 dinner service. then after 8:40 it empties out again and for the rest of the night people come and go.

Agree. We went every night on Victory and it got busy in waves, then cleared out again. There were only a few seats right at the bar but there was another counter behind it with more seating. We'd sit at the back counter until a spot opened up at the bar.

Victory did have menus but you could ask for other stuff too. I asked for the Deal Closer with some spice added and the mixologist put in half an ounce of habanero vodka. It was really good.

From the menu, I liked the Antioxidant and (surprisingly) the Cucumber Sunrise. But there wasn't a bad one.

When I did the B2B Jouneys cruise on the Triumph, out of 21 nights, I think I only missed 3 nights at the Alchemy Bar. I would usually go between 4-4:30 and it was usually just a few people, so I would get a seat at the bar. As others said, it got very busy and noisy around dinner time, but by that time, I had had my 1 or 2 martinis and I would leave before it got to noisy and packed. It took a few nights for others to discover it. Loved being able to chat with mixologist Tijana when it was somewhat quiet.

I still love my usual dirty Bombay sapphire martini, but tried several from the menu also. All were very good. Try the Deal Closer with white chocolate.
