Birthday cake order

I'd like to arrange a birthday cake for our travel companion on a Serenade of the Seas sailing next month. Ideally it would be delivered to our table at dinner, but cabin would be OK.

 

I see a wide variety of things available for pre-order on the cruise planner--cabin decorations, for example, and cupcakes--but no birthday cake.

 

How can I order one? We did this a couple of years ago on Princess at no charge but have no objection at all to paying extra for it--just need to figure out how!

 

Her birthday is the second night of the cruise, so there won't be a lot of time after boarding to work it out.

In the dining room I would go to the maitre d and tell him the situation and I'm sure he will take care of it. I must say last year friends told our waitress about my birthday they surprised me and song happy birthday followed with a nice dessert.

I suggest calling RCI Gifts & Gear at 800-722-5443. They definitely used to have cakes (birthday, anniversary, etc.) available for order through their web site. If they aren't available now, I'm not sure why, so the G&G phone reps may know more.

I ordered one in October. I was having a hard time finding it when logged into the cruise planner. I called Gift & Gears and ordered it. A very friendly, helpful man took my order and also showed me where the cakes were hiding on the website.

 

Our cake was delivered to the dining room and there was no problem with being on my time dining. They had it ready for us.

I ordered one last August for my granddaughter's birthday. I just told our waiter the night before at dinner and she arranged it for us. It was a chocolate cake with strawberries on top and Happy Birthday + name. The cost was about $15. and it was so fresh and delicious. We shared with the table and took the left overs back to our cabin to enjoy the rest of the week. You can also get a white cake instead of chocolate.

Cakes are available and can be delivered to your dining table. Call gifts and gear to order. Available in white or chocolate. Having one delivered on our cruise next week for our anniversary. Cost of $16.95.

There's a separate gifts and gear website. For unknown reasons, none of it is in the cruise planner where it would make sense for it to be. But there's nothing all that surprising about RCI's IT not making sense.
