Beachgirl2016 Posted March 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2016 Hi we will be there next week. Not sure what to do. We're snorkeling the prior 2 days so was thinking beach and maybe a little shopping? 2 adults and 5 kids ages 8-15. (Not all one family!!) I've heard you could get out of port and get a beach excursion for much less. Any suggestions? Blue Kay or??also any good local restaurants? Thanks!! Rare crewsweeper Posted March 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2016 A listing of beach clubs here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1920888&page=2 All accessible via taxi or open air tram from port. If you want Blue Kay, and don't want to walk out of the port to find a van taxi, take the open air tram (same $3 pp) to first stop Tequila Beach, get off head to the paved malecon turn left and walk about 50-100 yards toward the lighthouse. You'll pass the entrance sign to Blue Kay while on the tram. For other places, just tell the tram or taxi driver the club you might be interested in. they'll stop a close as possible and you can head to where ever you like the beach set up. Tropicante, El Faro, YaYa Beach, Pez Quadro, et.al.
jamon Posted March 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2016 Our choice would be Tropicante...been going there for over 5 years...great beach area and cheap food and drink prices. There is no charge for loungers and Steve the american who owns it lets you use wi-fi and phone to call home...
mncruizr Posted March 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2016 I would second Jamon's response. We went there in January and it was very nice. Food was good, we had massages there and did some snorkeling and swimming. Snorkeling is not that good, but it was relaxing. They still did not charge for a chair but you are expected to order your drinks and food there. We spent about $40 for food and a round of drinks. Steve is very nice and makes it a point to visit all his guests personally.
