golfb4cruzing Posted March 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Been away from Carnival for several years and now they have the crazy staggered boarding. Our cruising buddies boarding pass says 1:30 - 3:00. What time are they allowed in the terminal to start the process? We purchased FTTF, so we will go as usual 10am. Also since we are driving down, we are bringing one persons 12 pack of soft drink. How can I get that to them if they are 1:30-3:00 and we are already inside waiting and at that time probably having lunch on Lido. We will have our full compliment of Carnival allowances. Thanks for the help.
vwrestler171 Posted March 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2016 I believe the check in time on the boarding pass is the earliest they can get into the terminal. There is no way to get the soda to your friends, unless you wait outside until they arrive.
golfb4cruzing Posted March 20, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Thanks. I didn't want those answers but expected it. Looks like they are on their own. Oh boy.
riffatsea Posted March 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Are you using a port that actually has staggered boarding? Only a few are trying that out. At the other ports the boarding pass may say 1:30 but folks can get there early as in the old days. For staggered boarding you choose your boarding time. IF it IS staggered boarding then that is the only time they can arrive. If you are on board with FTTF then you'll take their stuff to your cabin and give it to them when you see them. golfb4cruzing Posted March 20, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Conquest FLL. They might be using it because they are late leaving port every week so far. Yesterday they weren't ready until 5pm (hour late) and the Harbormaster put them on hold until to cargos came through. They never left until 545. Captain was hot but maybe next week they will be on time.
Lil2Angelic Posted March 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Are you sure you have the staggered check in for your cruise? From what I've read I think if you have staggered check in it prompts you to pick a check in time. The 1:30 to 3:00 sounds like the standard default that prints out. We had FTTF and our boarding pass still printed out the 1:30 to 3:00 boarding time.
KoalaWala Posted March 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Staggered check in is only in 30 minute increments and in Galveston, Miami, and New Orleans only.

mistycruiser Posted March 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2016 No staggered check in time for Fort Lauderdale yet. Just Miami, NOLA, and Galveston.

Thanks for the help.
It is not staggered boarding, it is staggered check. You pick your own time, it is not assigned. It is not crazy at all, from the early reports it is really cutting down the wait times. It is only in three ports so far, Miami, New Orleans, and Galveston. If you were not prompted to pick a time when you completed the online check in your port is not part of the staggered check in yet.
golfb4cruzing Posted March 21, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted March 21, 2016 Thanks everyone. So this means it is not a staggered situation and we might be able to facilitate our objective after all.
