sherease23 Posted March 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I know we're allowed to bring a bottle of wine per person but are we allowed to bring a corkscrew? If not do we have to pay them to open our wine for us?
JBallz38 Posted March 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I was wondering the same thing...
Florings Posted March 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I always bring my own!
amyh13 Posted March 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I used to bring my own. But there are very good wines that come with a screw top to I just ask the guy at the wine store for a good one. One less thing to pack and it stores much easier than shoving the cork back in.
suzycruiser2 Posted March 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I bring a small foldable one.
crusinpsychRN Posted March 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I take one. Once got a cheap $5 bottle of wine at a convenience store in Seattle thinking it was a screw cab. Got on board and the darn thing had a cork!
jac-3 Posted March 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2016 This link from NPR shows how to open a bottle with a shoe.
shallow1 Posted March 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2016 You could certainly bring one but like another poster said~~~there are some very good wines with screw tops(what I am bringing)!! Vintner's have finally said that wines last longer with a screw top.
MarcelLucSell Posted March 24, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 24, 2016 And your room steward will have one to lend you if needed.
springs741 Posted March 24, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2016 You can take your own. As my daughter pointed out you cant take a obviously fake toy sword but can take this awfully sharp hand held device that could be used to perform some seriously bodily injury. If you take a glass of wine with you to the MDR no problem. If you take the bottle, you may be charged a "corkage fee" Please understand corkage fee is a per bottle convenience fee that is charge when you bring your own bottle to a restaurant. It has nothing to do with removing the cork.
sapperone40 Posted March 24, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 24, 2016 You can bring a cork screw on board. We forgot ours on the last cruise when we brought our wine on board and called guest services. They had one brought one up to the room. It was a smaller and cheaper version, but did the job. It will just show as a $0 expense on the bill. We just left it in the room upon our departure. jac-3 Posted March 24, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Also, TSA allows corkscrews (without knives) on planes, I keep one in my shaving kit.
pohlerbear Posted March 24, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Room service will come to your room and open it for no charge ( just a tip)
flywright Posted March 24, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Take a cheap fold up one. But for fun at home practice by opening with shoe, so when you forget to bring it, you have one already packed, because who forgets shoes. sfaaa Posted March 24, 2016 #15 Share Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) Couldn't bring one on the plane (didn't know it's now allowed). I usually buy wine with screw cap for that reason when I cruise. Edited March 24, 2016 by sfaaa
flywright Posted March 24, 2016 #16 Share Posted March 24, 2016 My fold up kind does not have the knife, and it's been in my checked suitcase since 2007. Likely cannot put in carryon though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Micahs Grandad Posted March 24, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 24, 2016 My fold up has the knife also and goes with me all over
Monsterluvs2cruise Posted March 25, 2016 #18 Share Posted March 25, 2016 I always bring one and the rubber corks if we need to re-cork. Takes basically no space in the luggage.
