vwrestler171 Posted March 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Has anyone had a chance to use this camera yet? I have the 810, but am thinking about upgrading to the 870 and am just curious of how well it does pictures and videos.
Mikiejag Posted April 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2016 I have the TG-860 and besides a few settings and a slightly better GPS they are identical. May want to see if you can catch the TG-860 on sale or an Amazon warehouse deal. I picked mine up for $135, could save you some bucks, while keeping the same features. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/olympus-tg-870/olympus-tg-870A.HTM
vwrestler171 Posted April 9, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2016 I haven't seen them that cheap unless they were refurbished. Most places want $10-$30 less then they want for the TG-870. I'll keep my eyes open though.
Mikiejag Posted April 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2016 It was one of those Amazon Warehouse deals. Still in box, and if it is only $30 less, then might as well get the newest of the new.

Just be careful as Olympus warranties technically are non-transferable. If the original buyer registered it you could potentially have trouble; be sure to check the status with Olympus during the return period. Also, Olympus has refurbs directly, though stock is dynamic depending on what they have available at any given time. See http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/outlet/reconditioned-cameras.html Just remember the warranty is shorter, although an extension can be purchased. I've bought cameras and lenses from them and have been pleased.
