DonnaK Posted March 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Just booked a guarantee on Anthem and was assigned category DO 6628. Does anyone have info on this balcony? I searched for the diagram of obstructed balconies which shows the amount of obstruction, but I couldn't find it. Can someone point me to it so I can see if there is a better DO cabin available? champagne123 Posted March 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Wow. That does not look bad for an obstructed view.
Ocean Dancer Posted March 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2016 We had a similar room 6208, I think. I was quite surprised. You could not see anything but the lifeboat if you were sitting down, but standing up, you could look over and see the sea. Nights were beautiful! We liked the breeze, ocean sounds and what to wear in the morning. Worked very well. Have a great cruise :)
DonnaK Posted March 30, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) It looks like 6570 is available. Is this a better view? Edited March 30, 2016 by DonnaK
Ocean Dancer Posted March 30, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Not sure, it will be either the lifeboats or the white davits holding the boats.
robtulipe Posted March 30, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) It looks like 6570 is available. Is this a better view? No the view will likely be slightly worst as there are two davits just to the rear of the balcony for 6570, marked by arrow in shot below, instead of just one to the rear of cabin 6628. Cabin 6570 does have a larger balcony. Edited March 30, 2016 by robtulipe
DonnaK Posted March 30, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted March 30, 2016 thanks robtulip. Do you gave a shot like that of 6628?
robtulipe Posted March 30, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) thanks robtulip. Do you gave a shot like that of 6628? Here is the shot of the balcony for 6628 but it is at a slight rearward angle. Shot below is from above taken from North Star. DonnaK Posted March 30, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted March 30, 2016 thank you. Still not sure if we should stick with what we have, or try to switch. There are over 20 DO's available, but I can't tell if any of them are better than the one we have. lol
crookedhalo Posted March 30, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Another factor - smoking area is on deck 5 starboard side. We had booked 6704 and realized that when underway would get a lot of smoke so switched to a cabin port side further forward to avoid the noise from Jamie's:)

Smoke is a very big deal to me. Ocean Dancer Posted March 31, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Like I said earlier, we had 6208 with just the lifeboats, was a center location and our room steward Walton was the best!!:)

Out of these two I would take 6200 because it does not appear to have the davits (in other words it's in the middle of the lifeboat). 6164 looks almost identical to the pic posted earlier on. Sorry - can't be much more help than this:(

Where was the connecting door? Any issues with noise as it seems to be over the Bionic Bar? Edited March 31, 2016 by DonnaK
robtulipe Posted March 31, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) I had a look at DO availability for your sailing and I would go with cabin 6566 which is 2 balconies to the right of 6570 marked by the arrow in the shot below which is the shot I posted above. As you can see it has a view directly over the middle of the first starboard side lifeboat. It is right at, so has convenient access to the forward elevators/stairs area. We had a higher deck same area balcony on Anthem earlier this month and it was great easy to get to location. Chops Grill below shouldn't be a problem noise. This is a connecting cabin which, IMO, doesn't take away anything as Anthem has double lockable doors between these. Also most DO cabins remaining available for this sailing are connecting. My next choice would be cabin 6208 which as mentioned above has an over the middle tender boat view but also overlooks the promenade deck walkway and isn't as convenient to the elevators and stairs. This is shown by the shot below where as 6566 has a closer lifeboat view similar to that of cabin 6628, shown in post 2 above, but without the davit to the side. SMHCPA Posted March 31, 2016 #18 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Hi - cutting in quickly since we have the deck six expert's attention lol. We have been assigned 6266 which I believe is not obstructed and not near the smoking area. Are we above Johnnys? I am seriously map challenged so if you could confirm I would be so grateful. Thanks! robtulipe Posted March 31, 2016 #19 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Just wanted to add that the kitchen for Chops, Izumi and Wonderland is further back between these restaurants so that's why there shouldn't be a problem noise wise under cabin 6566. DonnaK Posted March 31, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) Thanks Rob. We had 6556 (D8) on our other 2 cruises on this class of ship, and agree that the location is great. I'm going to take your advice and see if I can switch to 6566 (DO). Edited to add: I not only got my cabin switched to 6566 but the agent also got us cleared of the wait list for early classic dining! I have to say that I've been on the phone twice over the past 2 days with RCI, and got outstanding friendly and efficient service both times!!! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Cabin 6266 is above Jamie's Italian restaurant, which I believe is what you meant by Johnny's and overlooks the Promenade deck walkway and the middle of Jamie's covered outside sitting area shown in the shot below which was taken from North Star. The second shot in my post 17 above, attached again below, is of that area of the Promenade deck 5 as it was taken from the balcony for cabin 6292. SMHCPA Posted March 31, 2016 #22 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Yes - I did mean Jamie's lol. Johnny's is our hometown Italian eatery - and I wonder why I am always lost [emoji12]. Thank you again ! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
DonnaK Posted March 31, 2016 Author #23 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Last question: Where is the door in a connecting room (6566) and is anything in the room removed or made smaller to accommodate the door?
robtulipe Posted March 31, 2016 #24 Share Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) I checked out connecting cabins 6274 and 6276 on Anthem, but only by looking in from the corridor while the attendant was cleaning these and the connecting doorway was just inside from the entrance about 2 feet so it is between the bathrooms of both cabins thus nothing was lost by having these in those cabins. Cabin 6566 is likely the same. Edited March 31, 2016 by robtulipe
