rwright261 Posted April 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2016 Hi, Are drinks / other things priced in $ or €? (I know it's a cashless system so no physical cash). Normally even in a med cruise we take $ with us for tips and the casino... (Usually Royal Caribbean).. Is it the same on MSC Sinfonia? Thanks 😄
RudiRatlos Posted April 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) It depends on where the cruise takes place. Currency on BoardFor cruises in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Antilles, Dubai, the Emirates and Oman, as well as MSC Grand Voyages departing from Europe, the onboard currency is the Euro (€). For cruises in the Caribbean, South America and South Africa, as well as MSC Grand Voyages going to Europe and to Australia, the onboard currency is the US Dollar ($). kerryincork Posted April 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2016 If in Europe than all transactions actions on the ship is in euros. MSC is a European cruise company. When you board they have kiosks placed around the ship where you have to authorise your credit card. If offered to convert your spend/ charges to dollars, say no, as you will always get a better deal through your CC company. If you want to pay cash, you just questions at guest services and put money on your account. I'm sure they will take dollars but you will get a bad exchange rate. Also avoid drawing out money at ATMs in airports, as it has been my experience that you get a terrible exchange rate hear as well.
