jv_nyc Posted April 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2016 Hi Everyone! I usually sail Royal Caribbean, and I'm not familiar with Norwegian. A friend of mine is sailing Norwegian and considering an upgrade to a Haven Spa Suite from their currently booked balcony for $1500. Do you think it's worth it? What are the perks? They were already considering purchasing the access to the beach club. Thank you in advance - I know I could search and dig for this info, but appreciate your responses to help my friend out. Thanks! nolatravelgirl Posted April 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2016 Other factors are Number of Days - if this is a shorter cruise then the per night costs become significantly higher Port Intensive? - If it is a port intensive itinerary which would leave them away from the ship for the majority of the day they may not get full bang for the buck. Suite perks are nice, but it all a matter as to whether the stated benefits have value to you.
SMASHROX Posted April 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2016 I think the upgrade price is consistent with what others have reported on the message boards recently.

Bluetail48 Posted April 8, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Spa suites don't get liquor. Most suites don't get liquor. That's reserved for the Garden Villas (GV), Owners Suites (OS) with Large Balcony, and Deluxe Owners Suite (DOS) with Large Balcony.

Jenjer Posted April 8, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 8, 2016 What ship is she sailing on? The Beach club is called Vibe. Its very hard to get unless your in Haven then you just have to request it, if not she will have to be one of the first to board and even then its a maybe at best. The Spa suites also include access to the Thermal spa area and that varies by ship. Haven on the newer ships Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape has its own restaurant for all 3 meals. On Older ships you can dine in Cagney's for Breakfast and Lunch. The Haven also has its own lounge, pool, spa's and sundecks again depend on ship. The new ships have it all. Royal is playing catch up to NCL's suite game IMO.

There's a "suite sun deck/area" concept, but it doesn't include a pool, and it's really just a small area that's off to the side, nothing too special. Butlers are also just rolling out this year. One day I will try Norweigan. I hear great things. :)
Jenjer Posted April 8, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Getaway has it all defiantly worth it. We actually sailed Getaway with people from Royal checking out The Haven. I bet we will see a Haven experience on Royal very soon. Carnival put in the Havana Cabana. I have not been following Harmony but I was surprised it doesn't have a suite pool, at least I think it doesn't . We would rather sail in 2 rooms on Royal than 1 suite. One reason if one wants to spend their time in an adult-only area. Haven is not one.
Bluetail48 Posted April 8, 2016 #21 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Balcony parts are irrelevant, there are also DOSs without balconies. I figured as much, just quoting NCL website. With UBP, you almost don't need liquor in your room anyway.
