Serenade of the Seas, "hump" room

Recommended Posts

We just put down the deposit on our room. TA said the rooms on the "hump" have the biggest balcony and have the best view so we booked 2 rooms. I though of 2 questions after I left this office and I hope you all can answer them

1) Will I hear the casino under us? We will be on the 7th floor

2) Are the balcony glass? basically will I be able to sit on my chair and be able to watch the ocean or will I need to stand up to see it? I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your help

CanadianMAG;

If you are on the seventh deck, you won't see the ocean except out on the horizon. Your TA should have warned you that the seventh deck has the "Life-Boat Cover that is a 4-foot blockage of your view to the ocean. :(

You should have them change your room to the 9th deck or higher.

Look at the deck plans and you'll see that the port side is where the larger balconies. (Look at 9092-94 and 9078-76) Those balconies are almost as big as the room. We had 2 chairs, a table, and 2 lounge chairs, and still had room to walk around. AND you can see the ocean looking straight down.

I like to see the wake of the ocean against the ship - especially at night with a cubancigar on the balcony.

Hope this helps.

CanadianMag, I had one of the "hump" cabins on the 7th deck of the Jewel ( a sister ship of the Serenade). No problem with noise. You are behind the elevators and few people travel past your cabin. We were more aft on the Serenade (right above the Schooner bar). Didn't hear a thing!

Enjoy your cruise. The Serenade is a beautiful ship and my sis and I really enjoy that itinerary.

I just called RCCL and asked them about the view, and he said that we will have a full view and the life boat should not effect anything.. I am not sure what to do. should I change my room?

Has anyone else been on 7092,7094,7592,7594??

The only other rooms available are forward on deck 10... I dont know what to do and I am new to cruising.

I guess I am not too concerned about the "wave" action, I just hope it won't ruin any sites when we dock and get close to the ports

I don't think you'll have any trouble with the life boat covers on the hump. Are you in the middle of the hump?

But, unless it's 7600 or 7602 you won't get a much larger balcony as the hump gets larger as you go up. It's probably worth the extra $20-$30 pp to go up to the deck 9 hump, which is D1s.

These four are on the edge of the hump, which means a larger balcony, but greater chance for the overhang to be a problem. See my attached picture.

If it were me, I'd check and see if anything on the 8th or 9th deck humps are available. If not, stick with what you have.

thanks soo much for the picture. I was cruisin the net and found this picture. Its a little closer then yours, if this is accurate I think I am comforable with it since JUST below my room there is nothing it looks like it is the windows from the casino. Thank you for your time and looking for pics.. I feel a bit better now

The windows are actually the centrum. On the starboard side the champagne bar is directly under on deck 6. You'll love your room; it's right off the centrum. And you'll LOVE the Serenade; she's beautiful!

Go higher! If you can get hump cabins higher, you won't be sorry. Or see if aft is available. All the side balconies are larger on deck 7, but you can see why; they have to make up for that cover.

I was in 1554 right beside the RS it was only the two suites on the hump. No obstructions, huge balcony, very large glasssliding doors and windows right across the whole balcony end of the room. This GS is hailed as the best suite on the Serenade other than the RS.

I just called RCCL, they only have one room on the 10th deck, 1014. However we need more then 1 room so that will not work.

Then we have 8532, 8064, 8528 and thats the only rooms left in our catergory. NOTHING aft and nothing on the hump higher.

Now having the option of 8532 and that area in the front of the ship would that be a better option?? RCCL was not very helpful. I will talk it over with my TA first think Monday but I want to get my mind straight before doing this specially since there is not very many cabins left.

ANy assistance would be appreicated.

If you have to "settle" for something now, then don't forget you can wait list for what you really do want. I am sure some of the cabins out there in TA land, do not have solid bookings this far out. At 90 days out the TAs will release cabins with no money down on them, and at 60 days out, any cabins not paid in full by anyone, will be released. At those times, and earlier if someone cancels, a waitlisted cabin could clear.

As a side note -- I had to chuckle at the last picture you posted. There is a man with a long "loin cloth" shall we say, and there are the boat covers...now, I know you were referring to the boat covers, but you said, "I think I changed my mind on 7092. I found a good picture of the room and that cover is wayy to big for my liking... I guess I will be calling my TA on Monday to change all our rooms around." -- could have been referring to the "loin cloth" :D

Okay, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with my mind in the gutter.

I also wait listed for my upcomming 12 day Hawaii cruise.I wanted suite 8273on Panorama Deck on the Carnival Spirit. This is a wrap around corner aft balcony (huge). 1 month later I got it too. I am only happy with certain pics for accommodation (different for each ship). Get what you want and you'll be happier .

Have been a guest in or stayed in some of the cabins u mention and I personally wld keep the cabins already booked on the hump especially when comparing them with the others still available.. The balconies are great and u are close to the elevators which for a lot of folks is a bonus. Center starboard hump cabins are good for viewing straight down, aft & forward but the balconies are, in my humble opinion, too small for 2 people. Some folks like aft cabins (although are a good distance from the elevators) but they aren't available for your time slot anyway and usually have to be booked a yr or more in advance as do most of the hump cabins.. The Radiance class ships are beautiful and my favorites.

Hope u all have a 'super' cruise and plse post and am looking forward to your cabin opinion and review when u return.

Happy cruisin'!

What date in April are you cruising? We are booked April22,2006 on the hump in cabins 7600 and 7602. Hope we are not both booked for the same rooms.

Hope this is a good cabin choice. I have been on the hump before on AOS. Loved it. On Radiance I had ont of the extended balconies on deck 7. The balconies are glass barriers in this class of ship. On Voyager they are metal. We have never had noise issue with elevators before.

We are on the 22nd as well, and it seems we would have been neighbours.

I called RCI again, they must hate me with all my calls. D1 caterogy is only $150 more ($75-each) and we can get 2 aft rooms on the 10th floor, 1604, 1004.. I think I might do this now.. my mind is changing every minute, why does this have to be so hard
