Hi

Has anyone had to have an INR test on a Celebrity Cruise?

I rang Celebrity and they said that the nurse does them but they were unable to let me know the cost.

Does anyone have any idea?

Fortunately, I have never had to use the medical services onboard but, from what I have read on the forums and other articles, it would not be cheap.

Yes it can be done. You will have to pay a consult fee and for the test itself. The medical department is essentially an independent contractor and therefore fees are determined on a case by case basis.

If you carry a "standing order" from your Doctor....you can have it done on the ship during their normal Medical Center hours.

 

It is a "lab only" type of visit so you do not need to see/consult with any medical personnel.

 

A member of our family just had it done last month on Reflection. Price was $65.00.

 

As with all medical care on the ship...it is charged to your cruise bill. You get copies as receipt and can deal with your insurance company after you get back home...

 

If you travel frequently...you might want to explore owning your INR monitor (much the size and process of a glucose monitor that diabetics use). The bigger challenge is that your health insurance and physician would need to be supportive of this plan.
