July 4th celebrations

Does anyone know if Carnival does anything special onboard for the July 4th holiday? I am guessing no fireworks.

We were on board last year on July 4th, no fireworks...

But there was a designated time for a short celebration in the

atrium, with a balloon drop that was fun. There was also a deck party on Lido

that was alot of fun. Streamers exploded over everyone, fun music, dancing, etc...

Didn't miss the fireworks too much...we were on a cruise!

Not sure where you are cruising but a few years ago, as we cruised down the Mississippi River out of NOLA, there were lots of fireworks on the river banks. Some looked like organized shows by towns and others were families and individuals.

We were on the Carnival Spirit over the 4th in 2011 and were very disappointed in the lack of celebration. Asked a Carnival employee about it and they replied (paraphrased) that there are people from many other countries other than the U.S. on the ship and so they're not going to do a lot of hoopla for a U.S.-only holiday.

This sounds good. I'll be on the Sunshine departing NYC 7/4 . What's better than sailing past lady liberty from the Lido deck on the 4th of July ?

We sailed away on 7/4 last year on the Breeze out of Miami. It was still daylight so I don't recall seeing any fireworks or anything, but we had a really fun sailaway party on the lido deck. The entertainment staff handed out red, white and blue party favors and everyone was getting into it and having a great time. I would bet sailing out of New York would be a fantastic way to celebrate the 4th!
