Are there always plenty of cabs at the airport? We should be arriving around 8:00 p.m. and after a long flight it'd not be fun to have to wait around a long time for a cab. Does anyone know what the approximate rate is from the airport to Westin Bayshore? Also, what's expected as a tip?

There is a taxi line directly outside the Canada Customs exit . They usually have about a 100 taxis on standby at the terminal .

The Westin Bayshore is $36 CDN. They used fix rates from the airport to different parts of the city . Tip expected usually about $5 to $10 in Canadian dollars . Most major credit cards are also taken. They will not give a good exchange rate of exchange.

There also is a taxi stand in front of domestic arrivals.

There is rarely an absence of taxi's at the Vancouver airport. You may need to wait a few minutes if you want a luggage friendly minivan.

Most taxis are Prius-V . It is a little larger than a standard Prius.:):cool:

Not that it amounts to a hill of beans, but the flat rate for a cab from YVR to the Bayshore is $35. The tip expected is the same as any other North American city that I know of, 15 to 20% of the fare. There is a taxi line 24/7, just bear left as you exit the customs are and go outside, it is all very well signed. If there is only 2 of you a Prius cab will handle you and your luggage very comfortably.
