IMAX Cinema

I agree with your point of view for the most part, but......it would be a somewhat unique experience to be in Vista's IMAX theater and viewing a film like "The Perfect Storm", while the ship was encountering some serious seas..

Might make it the Thrill Theatre ! :D

No, I'm not on this sailing. And I don't consider a documentary to be a feature film and would not pay to see one. The movies are all action movies which only speak to a certain demographic. So, no they are not family movies. The only person in my family who would want to see any of these is my 13 yo boy. Nothing for an 11 yo girl or me or grandma. How about a comedy or animated movie that everyone in the family can enjoy?

This Granny loved Star Wars and have seen them all.:D

Actually, we do not drink, so we gave that up a long time ago.

As far as food, we eat out quite often. While I enjoy cruising, I have never been overly impressed with the food on our cruises - to phrase it another way, the food is not a standout from what we regularly eat at home.

Again, everyone has their own regimen when they cruise - we all have different likes/dislikes.

I'm with you (apart from I'll probably be in the bar), going to see a movie won't be my choice onboard either...... However the kids will enjoy it and I'll be happy they will want to go see a move on an iMax at sea and leave us in peace! That's the joy of having so much choice. If we all wanted to see an iMax movie at the same time, heaven help us! lol Luckily we can both avoid that crush! :D

Do you think they will ever show Titanic or The Posiedon Adventure :D:eek:

While I know you're joking, Titanic would be highly doubtful and Poseidon Adventure would be impossible (I wouldn't mind seeing either one of them though). I'm sure if Titanic were a new release, they would consider it (maybe not during a TA though! :D). Poseidon Adventure has never been formatted for IMAX, so they physically couldn't show it. The horrible remake, Poseidon, did get an IMAX release, but again, I doubt they'll dip into older catalog titles with all the new titles being released.

Does anyone know how the cost of the IMAX cinema and whether they will be showing 3D or 4D films. Will you able to book in advance.

I am on the Vista now. $12.95 per film and yes, a reservation can be made in advance though I doubt it would be necessary. There were about 70 people attending the screening I watched.

FYI - current movies on the Vista are: the new Superman vs. Batman, Deadpool, and Star Wars.

Great image quality with a killer sound system!!!!

I'm on the Vista repositioning cruise from NY to MIA in November and there are but 4 ports on this 11 day cruise.

The 1st sea day out of NY and maybe the next won't be pool weather, so the 2 theaters offer a change of pace from the casino.

The senior fare for a show will, in all likelihood, be less than what it would cost me for the same time sitting in front of a slot machine.

I totally agree. I might enjoy watching a movie under the stars on the Lido deck, but being inside a movie theater on a cruise ship is just not for me. A two hour live movie of the open ocean from my balcony would be more rewarding. Just my opinion so no bashing please. LOL! Since I am not being forced to sit in the movie theater, I will not complain about it. To each their own. Now I do see the benefit of having one for the kids as they are not as easily entertained.
