Early AM departure 8:00

Scheduled to depart Athens at 8:00AM on a Monday . Taking British to heathrow and then connecting on to USA. How early should we get to the airport in Athens. Planning on a cab from a hotel near the plaka.

I'm also on a flight from Athens to LHR that leaves at 08:00. I'm planning on having a cab pick us up from the hotel at 04:45. I'm under the impression the airport is about 45 minutes away getting us there at 05:30 this should give us enough time to check in and grab something to eat in the lounge.
