Will MSC fit my family?

We have cruised on Carnival, RCI, & NCL.... Carnival is out & we wouldn't do again, but we love both RCI & NCL now. Not sure how we would like MSC Divina.... My hubby is scared to venture out of our norm, but the price is calling me! Anyone have any experience coming from these other lines and then going on MSC? I have a 17 year old dd and a 10 year old dd. Thanks!

I've sailed those 3 lines and just did a trip on the Divina. My kid is a lot younger so I can't speak specifically to your kids, but what do you like on a cruise and what do you not care about? I really enjoyed our cruise and your 10 year old will sail free so that's something to consider

You will get alot of different answers , it's best to try it once and see what you think. We love MSC and have been on the Divina 5x and going again Sat. and in Oct. and we have 3 booked on the Seaside.

I know I will like it because I enjoy any cruise you put me on really, I am just concerned with the rest of the family having a good time I guess. I think if dinner is only formal then my family may not like that part of it, because they liked NCL last time not having to dress up for dinner and all the options of different places to eat. Shows are always a big plus too!

I brought a sport coat with me; never dressed "formal". I too have sailed NCL and like their dress policy. One night I saw guys in nice shorts in the dining room, docker-style. so the next night I did the same thing.

 

dining times are set and so are show times. Entertainment was good; a different production show each night. But no magician, comedian, etc.

I had been looking at MSC Divina for a while and did a lot of research. I didn't book so this is not personal experience only what I read from others.

 

MSC is new to the US and there are a lot of smokers on board. That's what deterred me from my research.

Did not experience that AT ALL. May be true in Europe, but was not true on my sailing from Miami.

 

No smoking on balconies, no smoking in casino. There is a dedicated smoking lounge in the ship.

 

You will find MORE smoking on a carnival ship, RCI, or holland america. At least in regards to Divina.

One way, which I think would be an excellent way to answer your question, is to read recent MSC reviews. There you will find the good, bad, and ugly in one neat package. We sailed on the MSC Divina April 7th to Bermuda and liked it enough to book again for May 9th. same ship.

I wish I had known that! Everyone said that the smoke was too much. Ugh
