ajtraveler66 Posted April 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2016 We will be at port for 2 nights and 3 days. On "Day 1" we would just like to take a tour that shows us the highlights of the islands. Then we could take it from there on "Day 2" and "Day 3". What 'introductory tour' would you suggest for us on "Day 1"? We will be on the Norwegian Breakaway". SailBadtheSinner Posted April 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2016 My suggestion is to tour Bermuda in a taxi, you can hire a 'blue flag' taxi to do the tour. The blue flag signifies that the driver is qualified as a tour guide. Look for a blue flag fluttering from the taxi's bonnet or a blue badge displayed in the taxi. The rate is $50/hr, minimum of 3 hours for 1 to 4 passengers, for up to 7 passengers, $70/hr. There is an ongoing thread on guides with names and contact info here. You can design your own tour or let the driver/guide show you his Bermuda. Blue Badge: If you are unable to make a reservation, taxis for island tours would be parked in Zone 3 as you leave the wharf; you'll be able to see the taxis waiting to be hired from the dock side of the cruise ship. CruisersTimesThree Posted April 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Agree with the above poster, this is the best way to see the sites of Bermuda. The pre-arranged tours go pretty fast, as the guides are very popular and book up quickly. We weren't able to book a tour taxi prior to our trip in 2012 (we were with friends who were visiting Bermuda for the first time) but we did get off the ship and got directed to the "blue flagged" area where we hired a wonderful gentleman who took us to all the highlights of the island. If I remember we hired him for 5 hrs, did the Crystal Caves, and a stop at the Swizzle Inn for the famous Rum Swizzle cocktail! Enjoy your cruise and beautiful Bermuda! There are also minibus island tour operators parked in Zone 5.

I didn't book in advance because I am used to winging it in Bermuda. We had a group of 6, most of the rest had never been so we grabbed a Blue Flag taxi on the spur of the moment coming off our ship that was docked in Hamilton when everyone wanted to see something different than the others. Could not ask for a better tour. Saw everything we wanted and more. The drivers who have the Blue Flag training seem to be very good.
