14ersco Posted May 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) From Ekathimerini.com May 10th The bus route linking Piraeus port, the Acropolis and Syntagma in the city center is back in service as of Tuesday, according to the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA). The X80-Piraeus-Acropolis-Syntagma Express bus route had been canceled due to reduced passenger use and is being reinstated in anticipation of an upsurge in tourist flows to Athens and an increase in cruise liners docking at Piraeus port. The X80 bus covers a 25-kilometer circular route in 60 to 70 minutes, starting from the cruise liner terminals at Piraeus (Akti Xavierou and Akti Miaouli) and ending at Syntagma Square. The route has 15 stops, including the Acropolis Museum, the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, the Athens Planetarium, the Municipal Theater of Piraeus and the National Museum of Contemporary Art. Stops are also made at major metro stations (Syngrou Fix, Neo Faliro and Syntagma). It also stops at embarkation points of the X95 (at Syntagma Square) and the X96 (in Piraeus) bus routes leading to Athens International Airport. An all-day travel card, which costs 4.50 euros, can be used on all Athens transport networks (metro, tram and trolleys) operated by OASA. The frequency of the daily service is every 30 to 40 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on the bus, from OASA ticket booths and through a mobile ticketing app. A three-day tourist bus ticket allowing limitless travel on OASA’s transport networks (including to and from the airport) costs 22 euros and is available at select OASA ticket offices and through a mobile ticketing application. http://www.ekathimerini.com/208475/article/ekathimerini/news/athens-bus-route-returns-to-meet-tourist-demand Edited May 10, 2016 by 14ersco
