Price Drop help

So we're cruising the Pride in August. I did ES and we're paid in full. Here's my question on Fare Viewer right now it says "36 hour sale $1680" On ES it says 1778.00. Will I qualify for the 36 hour sale or does it exclusively have to be under the ES. If we have to do E.S. then I wouldn't be available for OBC, but if we were to "qualify" for the 36 hour sale then it'd be another 40.00 OBC. Can someone explain this to me? I'm still learning the ropes.

You should fill out an ES form, but you may lose your ES status by booking this way. It depends on the sale and the type of credit.

Also, the new fare my require a larger deposit.

I'm PIF. Would I still have to do another deposit? The only thing that I'm really concerned about is losing my rooms. My husband and I have our room then have our teenagers booked in the room next door. That's the only thing that really concerns me.

If the price drop is for a guarantee, then you will lose your cabins. You should call Carnival or your TA before doing anything so you can find out the details.

No, you will not have to pay any additional deposits since you are paid in full.

If you're PIF you would not owe an additional deposit.

question:

Cabin category currently booked? Is it the identical category as the new sale category (example 8S booked, new sale category 8S)

If you take the "guarantee" price drop it is my understanding two things will happen. You will lose your current cabins and you will lose early saver status.

The latter might not be an issue for you.

I would like someone with more experience to chime in on the cabin proximity question. I am not familiar with Carnival's policy for booking your teenagers in a separate cabin.

If you are booked with an Early Saver Rate you can Price Match to any rate you qualify for in which you pick your cabin. Remember that Fair Viewer only shows you the cabin price, not the total cost of the cruise. While an interior cabin on the Pride for your cruise shows $1680 on Fair Viewer, the total rate for that cabin with port fees and taxes is $1,925.64 ($245.64 in extra fees) and can be found by completing a "mock booking".

If your current total rate with fare, taxes and port fees is less than $1,925.64, then you could get a price reduction.

You say it would be "another $40 OBC, if you received OBC with your original rate, you have to factor that in to your decision.

Here is an example:

If you booked an interior cabin for $$1,900 total and received $50 in OBC, you would not want to price match a rate that is more than $1,850 total because you will lose your promotional OBC.

I went back and checked. We're currently in a 4A and the one on sale is IS (Not really sure what that means...

It's a guarantee. You will lose your cabins and have them assigned by Carnival. You will also not be eligible for any further price drops. For $40 I would stay put.

This one I know, they can be booked up to 3 rooms away from mine and my husbands because of their age. (Per carnival website and the agent I spoke to when we booked) I really don't want to be separated by even 3 rooms though so its important to us that they are next door.

THANK YOU!!! We had booked and I had noticed an ES price drop about a month after we booked. I submitted the claim and got the 40 OBC added. That's where I'm getting confused because this is not an ES rate but a "36 hour sale rate."

Thank you!! Wasn't really sure what to do or what I was allowed to do and keeping the same rooms. Thanks for you advice, I think I'm gonna take it and "stay put."

You're welcome! For future reference when looking at price drops, if you select any "Let Carnival choose your room" rate, or one that doesn't let you select your cabin number, then it's a guarantee and you forfeit your cabin.

You are welcome.

The rate that you price match to does not have to be an ES rate, we have price matched Casino Rates, Friends and Family Rates, Past Guest Rates and others.

Just be sure to not price match to a guarantee rate where Carnival selects your room, which is what this sale is. If you price match a guarantee rate you not only lose your room but you are also no longer Early Saver.

Because your current $40 OBC is from a price match you don't have to consider it when looking at reduced rates.

Good Luck in watching those rates!

Stay put. You know where your cabins are with IS you could end up anywhere on the ship.

But keep looking you might get lucky between now and August! Last year we had $400 in drops and $ OBC. So far our current booking is just going higher and higher. You never know!
