Catedral de Santa María Rose window

How is the cathedral oriented east / west wise? I want to attempt to photograph the sun streaming through the rose window. When is the best time for that? Morning, Noon, early afternoon?

The rose window is located on the west end of the cathedral - facing Placa de Santa Maria. Southwest orientation (window) if I remember correctly. Haven't a clue regarding best time for photography.

I guess you mean the Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona? As dogs4fun said, the rose window faces SW. If you are going to be there on September 25, 2016 (as your signature suggests), or a week later, the sun should be directly lined up with the window at about 3pm.

I think Google failed me. The Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, more commonly referred to as La Seu

 

Google seems to show the window just North of due East.

Ah, OK, that makes more sense now! :)

 

There are several rose windows in Palma Cathedral, but you are probably thinking about the famous east window. The sun will be lined up with this window a little before 10am on September 26.
