Yes, loads and loads of people have had soot issues with aft balconies and suites on Royal. Regal saw an improvement due to the complaints and mess feom Royal's soot debacle. Hundreds of posts about it hwre. A quick search will being them up. Bummer you had issues with it also. Hope the rest of your cruise was enjoyable. Happy sailings!

We were 2 cabins in front of the aft balconies on the Aloha deck and had no problem.

May I ask what cabin you had? We have an aft cabin on the Royal next week!

Murphy we were on Caribe 743 and the soot was terrible don't go out there barefoot!!!!

We are on Baja...I read a cabin review from the sticky on top and our cabin was reported to have no problems.....so we'll hope for the best! I'll ask for slippers maybe...
