nyc12345 Posted May 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2016 Does anyone know how much in theoretical or actual loss is needed for a comp from CAS? Did they change the threshold recently? TIA!
Sand and Seas Posted May 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2016 I had 3000 theo loss on our March cruise. A week after we got home I called CAS and they offered us an Ocean view on the Escape.

Did they actually tell you your theoretical loss while you were still on the cruise?
Sand and Seas Posted May 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Did they actually tell you your theoretical loss while you were still on the cruise? I just called them a week after getting home from the cruise. You need to wait until the numbers from your cruise have been down-loaded to the land based CAS agents. I believe someone here on the forum said it usually is 4 or 5 days later. Best thing I learned here on Cruise Critic is-- it never hurts to call & ask what you qualify for:D

How do they calculate that playing blackjack. For a theoretical loss of $3,000 what in reality did that work out to be?

For a theoretical loss of $3,000 what in reality did that work out to be? Maybe there is a Blackjack player that could answer that? I play video poker so it's easier for them to track me as long as I always play with that players card in the machine.

Actual win/loss is irrelevant, as it is "theoretical" loss that matters. Each casino and each cruise line determines their own percentage, and you would have to ask them. I bet that some casinos/cruise lines even track how much you place on side ("sucker") bets. That being said, previously I have asked various cruise ship's casino managers, who have each given me the above explanation, but told me that they could not tell me what percentage their line used to generate the theo, telling me that as far as they knew, it was all calculated by computer. Actual win/loss is irrelevant, as it is "theoretical" loss that matters. I know for CAS that they calculate actual and theo. They give the players the benefit of the larger number when deciding what cabin category to offer for the next "comp" cruise. I also have personal experience with W2Gs coming directly off the top of any "actual" loss calculations they perform.
